First of all, frick United and the Boeing 737, in general.
A last minute change in plans led to flying economy instead of business class.
30C- aisle seat.
Movies wouldn't play.
Folding tray was broken- looks like someone might've sat on it.
ZERO room to put your feet or stretch your legs if you have a carry-on stashed under the seat in front of you.
Constantly fidgeting to get comfortable. My legs and feet finally became so numb I just didn't give a shite anymore.
Seats so narrow that every motherfricker passing you on the way to the toilet bumps into your shoulder.
Waitress telling you THREE times over the intercom that using your own alcohol to make a drink will get you banned for life. American Airlines didn't say shite. Had a few Tito's from Total Wine & More, and cranberry juice from the vending machine.

I’m group 1 as well - but I do long haul several times a month - which usually has me leaving on red eyes that last six plus hours (plus the shorter connections).
I line up early because I know I’m about to be seated for the bulk of my flight time and that gets old. Might as well stand for a bit.
Plus, it pisses off all the frequent flyer sales douche clowns and gets them to show their a$$ on the OT

I'd just as soon be the last person on the plane because it's easier to wait in the boarding area than on the plane.
The ONLY thing that really matters is take off and landing on short flights 3 hours or less. To that end, when the flight attendant asks me how I'm doing I say don't worry about me but please go check and make sure the pilot is having a great day.

When you’re tall and facing long flights you get as much time standing as possible before getting locked into the gen pop seating on modern airlines.

I'm usually the first not status group. Like 3 or 5. I don't line up per se. But when 1 is called i start walking if i time it right i can be right at the front when my group is called.
I don't check bags and need a spot for my roller and don't want to gate check.
. But yeah screw the people in line a half hour early. I'm eating and drinking until they board military.

Why do MFers line up so early.
I'll go you another question:
Why do idiots begin to clog the aisles after the aircraft lands and is still taxiing toward the gate?
We just got back from a hiking/hunting/fishing trip out to NW Montana. On the Delta flight from Atlanta to Kalispell via Minneapolis, as soon as the plane had touched down and decelerated to taxi speed people were clogging the aisles and jostling toward the door. But on the United flight coming back to Atlanta, people sat patiently and waited for the folks in front of them to gather their stuff from the overhead bins and move toward the door before even standing up from their seats.
How is it that the folks on the United flights behaved so much differently from those on the Delta flights without being instructed? Is it that different a clientele between the two airlines?

Airlines didn’t used to be for lower middle and blue collar people, that’s the hard truth.
Now airlines want to monetize that market and Americans are infinitely trashier than they were back then as we import new cultures and overall descend into a low trust nation so we all deal with the externalities of that everytime we board a non private plane anywhere but first class.

Maybe they’re not lazy, fatigued fatasses and enjoy standing.

Most of my travel involves a backpack I can cram anywhere. I’d rather sit at the gate as long as possible. I’m too poor and infrequent a flyer for first class. So being crammed into the cargo HOLD (I’m having typing and word issues) with the plebes is not my favorite experience.

When I am waiting to board a plane the last thing I want to do is sit down in the waiting area. I am about to sit on a plane for two hours, after all. So if I'm going to stand, I may as well do it where I'll shortly be waiting in line to board.

Love United group 1. It is basically the 5th or 6th group called.
All the fake handicap being rolled up to the gate in a wheel chair
Families with children under 2

Former military
Thought about joining the military
Played cops and robbers in elementary school
1st class
Group 1

quote:it baffles my mind. I can pack for two days or three in a backpack that fits under seat. The new norm of roller and back pack or big purse. Is ridiculous.
Flight is over an hour from taking off. 30 minutes from ‘boarding’. Most likely longer and there’s already 3 dipshits forming a line. Seats are pre assigned.
Add in the early lines and assholes standing in aisles waiting to deplane and I hate my fellow travelers.

I remember those days of standing in the cattle chute watching all the handi-fats pre-board. Then I hit pre-board status and life is better.

quote:id be fine if they just divided and labeled each seat an overhead spot. If it’s too small for your shite, bring less shite. And not boarding back to front is stupid.
am sure this has been looked into and isn't possible, but I would love if airlines charged for carry-on bags that need to be put in the overhead and let checked bags on for free. Then, they could board from front to back to make things much smoother. People wouldn't be anxious about getting on the plane because their spot for their bag is already guaranteed.
