Despite the fact that it is no longer a major hurricane, it is still a very potent storm. Things are still going to be very eventful on the GA and SC coasts.

That picture doesn't even do it justice. That tree's size is beyond belief. Fingertip to fingertip, it would probably take close to 6 adults to reach all the way around it. It's truly an incredible tree. Those branches close to the ground are as wide as a twin bed. The big one on the right is almost as wide as a full in spots.

I'd be heartbroken if it fell, there is nothing else quite like it.

Yeah, I wouldn't exactly use the word exciting either.

That radar image that was just posted..it looks like it is ever-so-slowly turning towards the coast. Looks like the eye would come ashore very close to the SC/GA border.

Just heard from a neighbor that there is atleast no visible damage to the front of my house. Super excited. They couldn't see the whole thing because of dark, but atleast some hope.

I don't mean exciting in that sense. I mean it in terms of there being rough weather. That there will still be significant impacts and action despite it no longer being a major hurricane. That things will still be very eventful.

Would greatly appreciate that! I'm ~60 miles inland presently and the winds here are gusting to 45 mph right now. Sustained winds are, obviously, significantly lower than that, tho. I stayed during Hugo but did evacuate from the home we had bc it was a front row beach house and we literally stepped almost directly onto the beach. Just a few steps thru dunes and you were on the beach. The house was on Folly. It was damaged beyond any hope of repairing it and it had been in our family for a very long time.

Stay safe! I imagine the ride is going to be getting rather bumpy in a few short hours. And if you should need anything come tomorrow, give us a shout here...there are a good many of us either in or near Charleston we have discovered thru this thread!

It looks like the highest storm surge will line up with low tide. Things look worse down the coast in Savannah and Beaufort where the surge will come closer to high tide.

Yes sir! We are trying to keep Comcast, Verizon and the local communities communications online and limit the outages. More to follow.
