It was still pretty darn accurate and everyone that has been hit so far knew well in advance at least 5 days that it could be coming and to leave.

Yup. The first part of my post was an appreciation for that fact. They were spot on in regards to the path.

But many people admitted they had no clue it was going to blow up from 1 to 5 south of Haiti. And throughout the track, the NHC discussion has said on many occasions that they were having trouble with intensity and characteristics, especially regarding what was going to happen once the storm turned east.

If the mets could do a better job at intensity with more resources, then I think we all as a country need to advocate to get them more resources. If there is nothing that can be done, then we just accept that and move on. Was just wondering which one it was.

It makes the SEC look foolish for agreeing to it. Florida got exactly what they wanted.

Looks like Myrtle Beach is in the eye - or what is left of the eye. Winds down to 1 knot from 40 a few minutes earlier.

Just spoke with some of my neighbors... water is still rising in Shadowmoss (it's high tide now) and rainwater is flowing down from the midlands. Water is 6 inches from my garage and a family friend couldn't make it down the connecting road to my circle. I doubt the water will get in my house, but my garage and crawlspace will likely be trashed for the second time in 367 days.

The flooding in the Carolinas is getting really bad. Storm surge is blocking drainage and some areas are already over 20" of rain. Rain rates are currently pushing 3"/hr in the Myrtle Beach area and in areas to the NE.

I saw some people sell after they repaired, but there are still a ton living in the flood prone areas. We have been thinking about selling, but the circle we live on is perfect for kids... so I haven't made much headway. Hoping this may convince her that we need to repair and sell.

We actually hosted the 8 year old's b-day at the front Carolina Bay pool this past May. Seems like a nice neighborhood.

Springmaid Pier, in Myrtle Beach, the longest pier in the Grand Strand part of SC was destroyed. Only 100 ft of the 1,060 ft pier remains.

You can kind of make it out in this picture.

Inland flooding is now a major issue in NC, several rivers that were already in flood stage are now at or projected to crest above record levels.

Islands closed so who knows.

James island not letting people back in today. Ravenel is still closed for inspection which apparently will take a while.

526 ramp closed at Sam Rittenberg in West Ashley. Don't know about the rest. IIRC Daniel Island exit closed? The big highway closures are not super detailed and we just lost cable.

At least most of the rain will be moving out of SC soon, but NC will get over 10 more inches of rain in some areas.
