If we are going to have gay pride parades, we absolutely should have straight pride parades. Fair is fair.

Is that the third time you'd posted that in this thread? Why don't you organize one?

Have you ever seen a gay pride parade? Do you think anything that goes on there is going to convince someone who is anti-gay that they should change their stance?
I've been to the pride parade a bunch of times here in chicago. It's a good time, and actually a great way to pick up straight chicks. And I meet my gay friends and support them on their day. I know that triggers many of you, but so be it.

Straight people have just as much of a right to be proud of their sexual preference as anyone else.
I think this is where most non-minority people miss the mark on these things.
Gay people aren't (necessarily) proud of being gay. They're proud of finally being able to be somewhat open about it. As a straight man, I've never been judged or shunned for being straight. That doesn't mean I've never been judged or shunned. It means, my identity as a straight man wasn't the reason for it.
So, these counter marches are dumb as shite.

That's the point and it's a shame it needed to be spelled out for people in this thread.

Which is why pride month is ridiculous.

Sure.
But getting mad about it is just as ridiculous, if not more.

It is, like, 87.62% as ridiculous.

And again, no one in this Era gives a frick, outside of a few backwards arse people. Being "proud" of where you put your dick is fricking stupid and attention whoring.

Sure. Just a "few" backwards arse people. Gay people have been widely accepted by almost everyone for so long now. I remember my grandpappy telling me about his gay friends getting married back on sand mountain during the depression.

It doesn't "trigger" me at all, but do you really think that a gay pride parade is going to convince someone who has a negative opinion of gays to change their opinion?

The issue with pride parades and such is they do absolutely nothing to "normalize" gay people.
In fact, it's probably creating negative stereotypes for many.

being so mad that you plan a counter parade is way more ridiculous IMO

This is exactly my point. If someone has a negative opinion of gay people, a pride parade is going to do more damage than good. As someone who doesn't have an issue with gay folks, I don't care either way about pride parades.
