Is it safe to assume you're not proud to be an American?

I'm happy that I was lucky enough to be born in America. I have no sense of pride for simply being born in America though.

As I've posted before, I have 2 gay friends, both of which you'd never know. (I guess this is like playing the black friends card).

One is a cowboy looking manly baw, and he abhors the flaming attention seeking gays like you see on Bourbon Street.

He hates them because he says they give normal gays a bad name and image. I completely agree with him.

being so mad that you plan a counter parade is way more ridiculous IMO
Everyone should have a parade.

Being angry that someone created another parade escalates the level of ridiculousness.

Nah. Nobody has time for that.

People are angry that a parade was created.

Scruffy is confused as to why anyone would be angry.

Parades should exist for ALL groups.

Parades are fun.

The issue with pride parades and such is they do absolutely nothing to "normalize" gay people.

Well, this is beyond my straight guy area of expertise, so we'd probably have to ask some gay people. But, maybe they're not trying to normalize anything? They may just be happy that they can parade around and do openly gay shite without being beaten by some rednecks. I don't know. I hate parades. They're all dumb as far as I'm concerned.

This is exactly my point. If someone has a negative opinion of gay people, a pride parade is going to do more damage than good.

100% correct.

If you want to be treated normally, act normally. If not, don't get pissed when some people mock you.

He must hate the stereotype gay getting the comfy seats during the movie previews.

That's bizarre. So you as a straight dude have no idea how pride parades look to straight people?

I've been to several pride parades in several cities.

They are like most parades.

The vast majority are normal looking people doing normal parade activities with small groups being trashy and seeking attention.

BULL-shite. Anything involving gay pride makes the gay community feel as though they have carte blanche to do whatever the frick they want to do.

I know gay people and have gay friends. The fact that they're gay doesn't mean anything to me. I'm straight as could be so therefore I'm not a homophobe. Granted, this is because they're not all licking on each other and wearing obscene outfits and shite. But for some reason, they feel as though any time that they are celebrating pride in being gay, they have to go to extremes. I'm not afraid of anything, just would rather not see that. Just as they would rather not see me lick on my wife in front of them and receive a blow job in the street to say, "hey look at me I'm straight!"

It's not that anyone is angry. Not anymore angry than you are going back in forth in this thread. It's to prove a point. And I'm glad a group finally did it. Especially when it was trying to get shut down.
