I can't stress how big this dog is. I am a tall guy, and when he walks, his back is at my waist.

The Goldendoodle was first bred by Monica Dickens in 1969.[1] Popularity for the goldendoodle grew in the 1990s[2] when breeders in North America and Australia began crossing Golden Retrievers with Standard Poodles.[3] The original purpose of the cross was to develop guide dogs suitable for visually impaired individuals with allergies. Poodles are considered to be hypoallergenic. Their coats do not shed, which reduces dander.[4] Dander is a protein that sheds from the skin and causes allergies in humans. The goldendoodle is referred to as a designer dog. The Encyclopædia Britannica traces the term "designer dog" to the late 20th century when breeders began to cross purebred Poodles with other purebred breeds in order to obtain a dog with the poodle's non-shedding coat, along with various desirable characteristics from other breeds.[5] In regards to goldendoodles, golden retrievers are considered a great family dog,[6] which is why they have been used to cross breed with poodles.

I don't really like any inside dogs. My dogs have always been yard dogs.

My parents have a medium Labradoodle and quite a few of my friends have a goldendoodle. All of them are intelligent, playful, and very healthy. Just be sure to look into their grooming needs. It differs depending on their coat type.

There is a reason these dogs have become so popular. Besides the no shedding, their temperament makes for an excellent family dog. Quit acting so bowed up you'll prob enjoy the dog.
By the way, that wasn't exactly how it went with your wife, the guy, and the dog.

I have a labradoodle as well. Definitely the smartest dog I have ever had but like you said sometimes he’s too smart for his own good. The most affectionate dog I’ve had as well, overall great dog.

People that have them, love them.
I prefer the look of just a regular golden retriever myself. But to each their own.
Not sure if they make good hunting dogs or not.
