Man... 100% agree after seeing so many videos online of different animals’ behavior that proves they have the same emotions humans do... love, sadness, fright, anger, happiness... I believe a lot of animals are much more intelligent and emotional beings than humans have ever thought they were. It’s made me consider going vegetarian. Not some PETA activist, not preachy, but just my personal choice. I love the hell out of a steak but I do have a sense of guilt about eating it. I know I sound like a total pussy right now... Lol... but animals are awesome. I like animals more than I like people. People are assholes.

but science is currently pointing more and more to consciousness being a separate from the brain.
Uhh, citation needed, because that is definitely not the case

The default position is that animals and humans don't have souls. No one has to prove we don't have souls, you have to prove that we do.

I can tell my cat is genuinely happy and excited to see me when I come home from work each day.
I’m going to need pictures of this cat. It sounds to me like someone sold you a dog and told you it was a cat. The old bait and switch.

I would say the default position is we do have souls.

All living things have a soul. Only humans have an immortal soul.

I mean this is just one link. Check out the work Dr. Sam Parnia is doing. It’s fascinating and really challenges current materialist dogma. There’s lot of research out there if you’re interested.

I clicked on this thinking it was probably the video of a dog watching 2 other dogs doing it.

Which is objectively wrong. The default position is always that something doesn't exist unless there is evidence for its existence.

Animals have souls.
Humans don't.
Humans don't.

By who? Scientific or religious scholars?
I bet it’s debatable

I do not believe they have souls. A soul is literally the sentient life force, the breath of God. Your body may die but your soul will always endure. Animals do not have souls.

Animals can have personalities and temperaments. But they still don't have souls.

There is ZERO... absolutely none.. no proof that the brain produces consciousness. The best “evidence” is the existence of tight correlations between brain activity and conscious experience, but that doesn’t tell us whether it’s causal. On the other hand, there is a mountain of evidence suggesting correlation is not causation (anomalies, direct experiences, physics, philosophy).
