Most interesting thing for me is how the street is configured to go between Hill & Peabody Halls and the Indian Mounds. That's parking now, with Field House being between the Indian Mounds and the Gym-Armory/Cox Center.
Love looking at old photos like this.

Is there a recent photo from the same angle that shows modern day? Would be cool to compare.

I can't really see the Indian Mounds. Are they covered with trees?

And just think they probably built all of that for less than they owe Brian Kelly.

Audubon, Stubbs and Woodin halls sit alone on the near side of the quad, the architecture, art and geography buildings cap the end to the right of the quad, coats hall is across from Stubbs. Hill Library, Foster and Peabody all sit to the north of the quad, our left.
I still lament they took the name of Middleton library, Middleton was perhaps the best corps commander fighting the Nazis in World War II.
Towards the river looks like fields of cotton. Man, what a time to be at LSU.

Great picture. You can see how the LSU lakes were not made yet, still swamp. The College Town neighborhood appears to be recently laid out with some houses now built. Not much else yet in that part of Baton Rouge.

I’m more floored by how in the middle of nowhere it is.

And there is the obligatory obelisk.
1929 is fairly recent.
This print appears to be a lithograph subject to alterations and artistic license. We don't know for sure to what extent either the foreground and background have been deleted, added or changed from an original photo.

Probably one of the aims of this lithography -- they didn't want something like Indian mounds enduring conspicuously for future posterity.
