They seem to be assuming Covid for anyone with any breathing problems until it is proven corona negative. I’ve admitted several patients in the last couple of weeks to the ICU that clearly had something else wrong and didn’t really have any reason to suspect they were exposed to Corona virus. One had obviously aspirated and was on the vent. Another obviously has a history of CHF and COPD exacerbations and no obvious exposures.
We got one guy who was corona negative but his presentation was exactly like the corona positive patients in that he had ARDS and no white count and elevated markers like D-dimer and CRP but finally they tested for flu and it came back flu B. Critical care MD still thinks that it’s Corona virus.
It’s scary how much we don’t know about this illness. And the hydrochloroquine Zithromax cocktail hasn’t seemed to do anything but it’s all we got right now

Check the swab. If they r using cotton swabs, they can get false negatives

Here’s the real problem. Each test takes roughly a week. So, if they are well enough to keep going in and getting tested then that means a really really sick patient who’s results would drastically alter their care cant get those results back fast enough due to the backlog.

I was "sick as shite" the whole month of January. People get sick that don't have the Rona. Lots of nasty viruses and germs out there.
