As science grows it begins to prove there is a god/creator which supports religion.

Why would you believe in Christianity? It's obviously real to anyone.

Hehehehe does it now?

So science in the past 2000 years has been proving the bible right?

He didn't say that.

Belief in a Creator is compatible with scientific findings.

So science is going to reverse directions and start proving a creator? How does Nostradamus know this?

There will still be some who hold on to ancient beliefs in an effort to explain the world around them but I think widespread access to information is going to give religion a death by 1000 cuts. It's too easy to realize it's bull shite now. I don't think a belief in a higher power will fade but i think most of today's religions will be extinct. The one thing that has kept some of the main ones going was the ability of their leadership to control what that masses knew.

There will likely be evolution of major religions, and a certain amount of syncretism (Like Christianity adopting some surface aspects of Buddhism, for example). That said, looking at long term trends is probably a better guide than putting emphasis on a few decades. Especially in the US, religion tends to ebb and wane regularly. During the Revolutionary period, religion temporarily waned and people such as Thomas Jefferson were certain it was on its way out. Before he died, the 2nd Great Awakening was already underway.

Science should prove scientific things. The results of human research have no bearing on whether there is a God of Nature or not. Research won't prove or disprove that there is or isn't a God. But logic can lead us to envisioning a Creator who has had a hand in creating the mysterious universe.

I'm not talking about the bible. I'm talking about forces above the level of understanding that sacks of meat and bones can contemplate in their brief existence.

As the rest of the world gradually becomes more secular, I sure hope the Muslims do the same.

Sounds like you're having an early date with Mary Jane... am I right?

No matter how much science proves, someone can always make the case for a creator.

Now the bible on the other hand, science has been puncturing holes in that for hundreds of years.

maybe. he could have made us and moved on to other galaxies creating other species. imagine what version he would be on now, if apple is on iphone 8, god has to be on version 5898588848484848373GDACFESSSSSV.4555 by now i would think. and what version are we? hmmmmmmmm...

btw, these are the things that go through my mind while i'm sitting in church.

More Deism less salvation.

And more reincarnation of the soul into a new human embodiment. God is a recycler.

Good point. If I was god I'd keep creating.

Like Cities Skylines, I frick up my first city by not getting the traffic patterns tweaked, so I start another city and build highways everywhere.

Future of Religion

I’m surprised it’s lasted so long. For the life of me, I can’t understand how grown ups actually believe in the Bible as a historical text.

You saying non Christians go to hell?

This is 100% correct. They do go to hell and there are plenty of people who call themselves Christians who really are not saved that go to Hell too. The Bible teaches about false religions.

With the major religions today: Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Judaism the way to salvation is so vastly different between these religions that all 5 can not be correct and only one can be correct. Of course you can say that all 5 all wrong but at most only one can be correct.

And of course before you comment again Christians beliefs God is an all knowing God. When you die your entire life will be reviewed in a matter of minutes like watching a movie reel in 10X speed (according to people with NDE). You will see how sinful you have lived, nobody is pefect we all sin. More importantly you will see every opportunity you had to come to know Jesus and that you refused. The punishment will be just. If an individual has never had the opportunity to know Jesus in his entire life then God will not send him to hell because he is a fair God. How ridiculous would it be for a criminal's verbal defense for murder is that a person half way across the world committed a crime and is not arrested. The judge would laugh in your face and say you are responsible for your own actions and that person in another country will be dealt with appropriately. Also the judge would not say because I am a loving judge therefore I can not sentence you. Bottom line is that you are responsible for your own life and you will be held accountable.

That is because it is true. In fact it has been proved to be the most accurate historic text in the history of mankind.
