If you're asking O_T forum tor drinking advice, you might want to seek a more professional resource.

Get a whoop. You'll see just how damaging it really is.

I know right. It's weird that people drink for the health benefits

Again, it's the alcohol? Or it's their personalities that get unleashed by booze? You wander off and pass out at the pool, they go all Real Housewives. It's not the booze, or the weed

Be a lonely alcoholic who lies on the internet about how much sex you have with your girlfriend.

No one is stopping you

But this is a weird melt

My industry is pretty public with salaries and I’ve been pretty open about what I do. You can just look it up

Lately I’ve gotten up to pour myself a drink and by the time I get to my bar decided not to.

No real reason not to, but no reason to either - if that makes any sense.

OP I wish you the best. I drank heavily throughout all my 30s, a 1/5th of whiskey every night I was off. Probably what saved me was my work schedule, as I worked several 24-hour shifts during the week, and of course, I couldn't drink. Had really bad PTSD from my time as a medic and couldn't sleep at night, so I started drinking to pass out and get at least some sleep. After 10 years finally went to a therapist, but she just fixed my dark, intrusive thoughts I dealt with while sober. The habit of drinking already had its grip on me.

I'm not going to get into my shrooms experience on here, as that's not what this thread is about, and not everyone wants to partake in that. I did cut back from a 1/5th to a pint. And finally quit. The first 2 weeks, I would get grumpy at night and couldn,'t sleep well. I still felt better on little sleep than I did when I passed out for 8 hours after drinking a lot. I started dropping weight, quit being moody at night, ate early, and when full, I didn't crave alcohol as much. I simply turned to God, also as others have mentioned. Started reading the Bible until I got sleepy. I went a full year with no alcohol. Now I'll have some occasionally. I never did like beer, didn't drink it during my drinking days even. This year I've had 1 beer and that's it. I will have a drink on our anniversary later this month. I'm in my 50s now and my heavy drinking stopped at 40.

I'll add, waking up to your wife telling you, you sleptwalked and pissed all over the floor is a pretty low feeling.

It's an excuse. There is nothing that an alcoholic beverage can do for you that a handful of blueberries can't do better.

I have too. During covid basically was the timeframe we lost a few of our family and friends... It was a rough time and during which I kinda became a daily drinker after work.. And then on my days off obviously I'll drink. What I wrestle with is stopping completely. I went 5 of the last 6 days without a drop and I drank last night. I am going to try to stay dry all week. I do like getting up the next day not hung over and I overall perform better at work.

I did this almost three years ago. Idk what my true intentions were beyond wanting to improve my health and well being. Kept going and I really don’t know if I’ll ever drink again. I think you should do it.
