Has there ever been any official announcement of the actual cause of the collapse?

In fairness, he was up there long enough to at least have another birthday. Or at least whatever smeared grease stain was left of him.

Thousands of Hispanics come here by themselves and go to work. No family or friends. They’ll share a 4 bedroom house with 7 other people who they don’t know just to be able to send more money to their families back home. It’s a repeat cycle of work, laundromat, Walmart. Would not be the slightest bit surprised if more illegals were in that building and people had no knowledge of their whereabouts. Their employers who were paying them under the table certainly wouldn’t speak out about it.

Damn that’s true, I never thought of that. Makes more sense that more people were in that building.

I used to work in Metairie and there were a lot of Hispanic immigrants there. I liked most of them a lot. They really work their asses off. They work in very hard and dangerous conditions. They get heat exhaustion and get injured often on the job and don’t tell the foreman, who doesn’t give a shite about them.

It’s sad, and IMO why immigration reform is needed so badly. I want more hard working people like them to join America and not be taken advantage of and treated like disposable laborers.

I want to see people get punished for this tragedy.

Inspectors, people from the GC, the Mayor, Fire Chief, the list goes on. They should all be held accountable

Fire chief did more helping Mitch remove the statues than he did in last 10 months. Friend at the Basin St station was on site almost daily and said it was as big of a clusterfrick as he’s ever seen. No one wanted to take responsibility or step forward to begin demo when city shut down in March. Latoya told the fiancé of the worker that’s feet were dangling that they could amputate them so the fiancé had something she could bury.

Mayor should be charged for this. FIFY

I'm no fan of Latoya, but why should she be charged for anything

Well to start with she owes ~$95,000 in unpaid federal income taxes.

Yeah, I saw what bee rye said. Figured their insurance would be sketchy after that initial report came out.

Took NYC 8 months to cleanup 1.8m tons of debris from 9/11.

(By May 2002, when the cleanup officially ended, workers had moved more than 108,000 truckloads–1.8 million tons–of rubble to a Staten Island landfill.)
