So they blame the kid, who apparently had no trouble directing a stranger right to his house?

That bus driver and superintendent need to be fired. Morons.

Sounds to me like the kid is full of shite. Passed his house 3 times yet ended up miles away and the bus driver forced this kid off the bus nowhere near his house? Yeah right. The kid forgot to get off at the right stop or got off at the wrong stop on purpose or something. Love that everyone believes a kid over an adult who gains nothing from this. Pussification of America. Plus i'd beat my kid for getting into the car with a stranger. By 3rd grade they know better. Walk your arse home.

And if they don't you just randomly drop them off somewhere. That is completely retarded.

"Only one child did not get delivered to the right address."

I understand the kid could have gotten off at the wrong stop, but I also figured the bus driver is supposed to know which kids go where. I had no clue the kids were somehow in charge of this step.

My main beef is the quote up above like there is no problem with one kid getting a ride with a stranger.

Stupid statement. The guy should have said we are looking into what happened and resolve to fix the problem.

When it comes to kids getting home, any number below 100% is a failure. That is a fact.

I'd have killed the principal and the bus driver who abandoned a child.

Lets not forget the kid got in a car with a stranger. That is a failure across the board. The bus driver let him off in the wrong spot and the kids parents didn't teach him to stay the hell away from stranger's cars. If that had been a pervert, the kid would be gone. Although, in the kids defense, not sure what you do when dropped in the wrong spot without knowledge to get home. I guess at that point you have to trust some stranger to help out if you don't have a cell phone.

If the policy is to rely on 8 year old kids to know where to drop them off, that is a failure in design.

Also, your assumptions don't come close to reconciling with the response from the school. They didn't say "The bus driver did not force this child out 3 miles from his house. The child got off at the wrong stop." So, I am believing the adults in this story. Their response was "So what? Every other kid made it home safely." If that's your idea of a wise response, I can't help you.

no, you are correct and I think the driver screwed up. But a third grader should know his address.

Little bastard probably got off at the wrong stop and is blaming the driver.

im not sure if walking home alone 3 miles is a safer bet, statistically speaking.

We had a driver once quit in the middle of a run and dropped 20 kids off in Kroger's parking lot. Utter fricking shitshow. With bus drivers you either get some really good ones (have some former military folks that transport some of ours) or the most incompetent mouthbreathers ever.

Unfortunately nobody wants to drive a bus anymore for what some districts and parents let kids get away with on them.

why didn't he tell the driver his address then?

quote:

"I told him he drove right by my house three times but he made me get off," said Noah Hoofman, the third grade student.

thats not exactly giving the driver an address. For all you know, the driver might be required to get a verbal address from the student as opposed to pointing at a home or spot on the map.

Just sayin'. Regardless, the driver was negligent.
