Good on that cop for keeping POS people like the OP from trashing the city.

I got one also last year.
I was pissed off at first but I got over it and I don't park on the sidewalk anymore. Lesson learned

Needed resurrection as I was just discussing the issue this morning, with someone who thinks blocking the sidewalk is no issue and police don’t ticket for that.

It's a New Orleans thing, and I tried to fight mine. (Car was half over the sidewalk as we were painting the house in front of the car.)
I took a picture of where the car was and argued that the sidewalk was still passable. The parking bitch argued that it would make it difficult for a bicyclist to naviate. I unwisely responded that bicylcles were supposed to be on the street, not on the sidewalk, and added two photos of the sidewalk fifty feet away where the trees' roots had so hefted individual blocks of concrete that there were five inch offsets, making it difficult for wheelchairs to use it (that saved me.)
For God's sakes don't tell them that bikes don't belong on sidewalks. That really pissed the bitch off. (The judge sort of smirked).
I got the fine reduced by half.

I live in a house in the M Streets of Dallas and one of my roommates got one shortly after we moved in late last year.
We all three drive trucks and for them all to fit in the driveway someone had to park halfway on the drive and halfway across like a 10ft alley behind the house.
Now whomever the last person is home from work is fricked and has to park on the road somewhere and pray it’s close

I will never understand how you people live in a place where the city or subdivision can tell where and what you can do with your own property. It is like ppl voting for communism.

Where I live you can't park in the yard, I moved my truck in the grass once so we could play basketball. Left it overnight and had a ticket the following morning
Bitch arse neighbor called the cops I'm sure

parish ordinance, cant block a sidewalk with car
Yeah because going around it just won't work?

Yea and you’re in the wrong. That area is public domain maintained by you. You can not block egress with your car. Case closed.
I’m sure you can get the ticket dismissed as it’s a non trivial charge but fact is, you are in the wrong.
FWIW a neighbor likely complained about it

Your driveway actually passes through the sidewalk.

At least you're not getting taxed for how much rain falls on your driveway...like they tried to do in Maryland
They do this in DC.
quote:
The Clean Rivers Impervious Area Charge (CRIAC) is a fair way to distribute the cost of maintaining storm sewers and protecting area waterways because it is based on a property's contribution of rainwater to the District's sewer system. Because charges are based on the amount of impervious area on a property, owners of large office buildings, shopping centers and parking lots will be charged more than owners of modest residential dwellings.
All residential, multi-family and non-residential customers are billed a CRIAC. The charge is based on an Equivalent Residential Unit (ERU). An ERU is a statistical median of the amount of impervious surface area in a single-family residential property, measured in square feet. The proposed monthly ERU values for FY 2019 and FY 2020 are $23.00 and $25.58 respectively.
Note that it's a monthly tax.

I once got a ticket one night for having an expired tag while parked in my assigned parking spot at a condo I was living.
Remember thinking WTF, cop is going onto private property looking for expired tags in the middle of the night?

Simple solution. Dig up the sidewalk in your driveway or put little gates over it and make it a toll sidewalk. Problem solved.
