Not surprised we have seen breweries closing.

It is kind of unfair that craft brewers got to have a fun job for the last 10 years where they got to mix stuff together and drink all day while the rest of us were wagie in a cagey

We need to bring back coal mining to where we can all have the same bleak thankless career

I didn't like any of their beers.
I tried to like them. But the combination of IPA, more IPA, fruit beers, and stouts were too far from my favorites to buy from them.

Pink lemonade Hazy IPA
Oatmeal Stout
Pineapple, Mango, Tangerine IPA
Hazy double IPA
Hibiscus Sour
Oyster Stout
Coffee Porter
King Cake Cream Ale
Fruited sour ale
Dry hopped sour/ double dry hopped hazy ipa
Strawberry blonde
Cereal milk stout

Just nothing there for me. Any of it. I wasn't their target customer.

The only thing that was somewhat my style was the Perfect Tin Amber Ale. But it was just ok.
I'd much prefer a Belgian dubble, english brown, Munich dunkel, or a dopplebock.

Old school Irish Pubs have stood the test of time.

It's like everything was either a goofy gimmick or jumping way late onto a fad.

Yeah, it's not surprising that wasn't sustainable.

I used to frequent a few of the local breweries and really enjoy them, but it's just really tough to justify $8-$10 or more for a single pint of beer.

Maybe the best beer in town, but worst job marketing. They were the first to bring in a permanent food truck (Fat Calf), but couldn't keep up once Flying Heart opened their restaurant and 7th Tap got going. They moved to Bossier too late, I think.

I talked with owner of a brewery and he said most of the breweries are just making enough to stay open. Economy is hurting the discretionary income. Said he plans to shut the doors down if a certain person is elected president.

He will probably have to shut down regardless of who is elected. Ain't nobody fixing this mess in 4 years and it's getting worse before it gets better.

Costs are making it difficult but I’ve also read several articles about people consuming less alcohol in general these days.

Just a weird thought here but my theory is the over saturation of IPA’s in particular has led to some of the demise of brewery closings.

I felt once all of these breweries started making these ridiculous citrus explosions of IPA’s the brewery scene sort of jumped the shark.

Think about a brewery around 2009-2013 compared to now.

Back then you had sours, stouts and way more traditional west coast IPA’s.

I feel nowadays the overwhelming focus is all haze and NE style citrus IPAs which I think have lost their novelty. Unfortunately, porters, stouts, sours and other styles have been shoved to the back burner.

Just my opinion.

I like craft beer as much as the next guy, but part of me likes to see the balancing of economy. I f’d up and got a draft beer at city pork the other night and it was $10. Ain’t worth it.

I have tried honestly to drink local beer and support small businesses, but it is overpriced and 2/3 of it taste like dog shite.

As some who likes IPAs (no, I don't have a neckbeard and yes, I'm voting for Trump) I love how these breweries keeping pushing the envelope on IPAs.

But I will also freely admit that the more they push it, the smaller the market gets.

I'm willing and able to drop $9 for 16 oz of some fun extended IPA, but not many people are... especially in this economy and price increases.

These breweries had access to cheap money, cheap space, and people who were willing to work for cheap because of the love of the game. All of that has gone away.

I do love their beer, but it has gotten to where it is $11 to $12 a 6 pack. I rarely buy it due to the cost.

I still buy craft beer but 9.99 a six pack doesn't feel right.
