This is wrong. Novell was amazing.

You're correct, though, if you're comparing the 'can do everything, even if you just need a little' aspect.

Just got out a training for SAP HANA. We’re converting to the newer version at the beginning of the year and I’m actually excited. Been using ARIBA, but looks like everything will gel once we get acclimated.

Somethign as simple as "hey why can't i search our accounts by their address", and the answer is "why do you need to do that". Makes me want to say, how about you shut the frick up and go right a simple code real quick so i can search the fricking accounts by their street address and make my job as well as everyone else's easier. If you can do it, then fricking do it. Don't be a lazy frick and tell me why you don't want to do it.

That's where a datawarehouse and systems analysts like me come into play. We tap the data and create you a nifty report in SSRS or Power BI that allows you to do all kindsa searching, and reporting, etc.

Been using SAP for last 6 years at oil & gas companies. Took about 6 months to learn but got the hang of it after that. Now I’m pretty good on it from the project side of things. I actually prefer it to some other systems I’ve used for tracking project related stuff and find it better organized. Still needs a cost type system paired with it to be really effective.

People unfamiliar with it always have trouble learning it.

I am trying to access a webpage RIGHT NOW for my account associated with a professional license. Of course, I can't remember the username or the password. Request a password reset, verify my email address, get a code emailed to me, go access my email account to get the code, go back to the other page, enter the code, reset the password, and FINALLY do what I initially intended to do.

My company was just recently the largest implementation into SAP that SAP had ever done

What industry?

What's even more frustrating is that i know SAP is customizable and can be used very efficiently, but ours has been set up so stupidly, and they are determined to not customize anything to make it better, at least not anytime soon

If you went through an SD implementation without customizing anything, you may have made history.

Everyone thinks they can avoid customization. It never goes that way.

That's a mighty task to do time entry, payroll, expense tracking, HCM tasks, and integrate to other systems for 50k+ employees.

I did 3 different installations at different plants when I was with XOM. All of them were unique but we managed to get them all up and running pretty quickly. My biggest problem with SAP was that all of those pretty reports on the back end required a lot of step-heavy data entry on the front end. Works great for the bosses and analysts, not so much for the mechanics and admins.

The entire process flow to get anything done. None of the steps are in a linear fashion, several things must be done and the forms submitted prior to fields on said forms required for continuation are available for entry, and nothing is labeled in a way that’s makes it easy to understand what the hell they are looking for.

Yes yes it’s probably not SAP’s fault that whoever implemented it for the company I work for set it up
In such a difficult to use way, but man it takes for ever to get simple shite done

Multiple sessions helps

But yes SAP blows
