Landcruiser with the V8

RIP

Worst decision Toyota has made.

If they can figure out how to bring back a V8 LC with the 3rd row they’ll print money.

My 700h is only 18 gallons. But I have 2 new fuel tanks on the way that will put me at 42.

You replace the original tank with these? How does that work?

They have a larger replacement primary that’s 29 gallons and an auxiliary that goes on the other side of the drive trains that’s 14. They non-US versions have the auxiliary so there’s space for it and FK Off-road makes these. You can do one or both. The miles to E won’t be right but that’s not a big deal is I have 42 gallons of gas and it’ll still tell me when I’m low.

I believe this is the general consensus. The Land Cruiser looks good but totally missed the mark this time

If Toyota pulled its head out of its arse and put their bulletproof V6 in that baby, people would pay above the already ridiculous MSRP for it.

Why would you spend that much on a vehicle?

There are better choices.

Does Lexus do the upgrade or someone else. Does it void any part of warranty?

Actually….it’s quite the opposite. Even though the 200LC is superior, aside from tech, it was extremely expensive (around $90K) and sold less than a few thousand units in last model year. In today’s money, it would be well north of 100K for the same 200LC. People would be losing their shite over that price point.
The new LC is based on the Prado LC (Lexus GX, 4Runner), is a little smaller with obvious Hybrid powertrain, but is more affordable & is selling a ton more. Toyota actually brought back a value based 1958 version too LC with cloth, that people had been begging for.
I wish Toyota had modernized their small v8 for these applications & an option for Tundra, but it’s been a wise biz decision by Toyota. People will find a way to bitch about anything. When it comes time to get my Wife out of our ‘15 GX, we’ll definitely be looking at the new LC.

It’s aftermarket. It can only void the warranty for the oem fuel tank and maybe part of the fuel system if something crazy happened but none of the over landing forums guys have had any issues and I asked my dealership and they don’t care. I have the frame sliders and tanks on the way. Really want to do the Dessent bumpers but they’ll only do in-house installs right now.

‘21 Cruisers are $100k. Check the auctions. For $70k, it’ll be an ‘18 with 75k miles

It’s not that bad but close. I wanted a Heritage edition and they were very hard to come by. Ended up getting an ‘18 LX with 42k miles for 54k. Looking forward to driving it for a looong time.

What city are you in, I may order and use who you are to install.

Baw you better consider springs and spacers to save your AHC accumulators and retain that cush ride long term. Slee armor and dual tanks are gonna weigh you down quite a bit on top of the batteries.

ETA:Ben's dissent bumpers are relatively light. I have a front with brush guard for my 100 LX but it was an early model and the style and construction has slightly changed

I’m in Houston. One of ih8mud baws offered up his lift so I’m probably going that route. If he’s cool with is we could probably make it happen.

Yeah a few of us are discussing that over on the other forums now. The fuel is what worries me the most. I’m not doing slee bumpers, they’re just too big for me.

Dissent is a better looking and lighter option. But beware Christo's skids and sliders are heavy AF. On my 80 I have Slee front and rear with skids and step sliders.

I went with Australian King springs and spacers to keep my AHC pressures out of the danger zone on my lifted 100 but I have dissent aluminum skids and white knuckle sliders. Worked great but I haven't researched anything on the new models

I love their stuff. Only reason I went with Slee for the sliders is they have a frame mount with ahc skids while Dissents are body mount. Really hope they release the bumpers and all for sale and personal install soon.

The new system is supposed to be pretty tough. There’s 3 guys there with full dissent builds that are really putting them to work so we’ll see how that goes. One nice thing for me is other than mods I’m rarely if ever loaded down heavy or tow.

I’d rather pay $100k today for a 25-30 year vehicle.

<—— drives a 100 series as my daily

I do like the new GX. Wish they’d badge it as LC too. Want the 3rd row + non hybrid option in the LC250

I never did pull the trigger but looked at LRA tank replacement and/or auxiliary tank addition for my 80. Eventually I decided against it but I believe they have network of dealers and installers.

These are Australian built tanks and have been outback tested for decades. They are showing an offering for 250 platforms but I don't see anything yet for the 700's.

Keep in mind that some tank replacement options require you to move the spare from the stock position. This wasn't a concern for me on my build because I have a swing out on my rear bumper and bought a slee 2 jerry can carrier to mount on the opposite side swing out when I need a little extra fuel.

This is the LINK but its not the same manufacturer as billjamin's.

If he is in Houston, Duggy can probably get him hooked up with a quality install like he wants.
