This makes me think of the answer of “I don’t know, I bought it as a gift” on Amazon questions.

Why answer at all?

Now if we could just get Congress to not be so short-sighted...

Attorneys are not required to disclose that they take 30% of the settlement and that they charge interest if they give you a loan before settlement.
The ads just say that the plaintiffs got a big check!

The commercials also don’t have to disclose that there are no guarantees that they’ll get squat. They just yell that they’ll get paid!

It’s misleading.

State rep Alan Seabaugh last week explained the issue. Sorry it’s a long video.

Darn Facebook video

Look up “coastal wetland lawsuit Louisiana” and see what pops.

JBE encourages the money behind his election (trial lawyers) to judge shop on a suit that will make oil companies pay for what they lawfully did 25 plus years ago.

This is what the ad that i saw is referencing.

Example: Crack head driving 120 mph hits tree and dies. Family sues DOTD for $10 million because the highway needed more light poles. DOTD is found 30% at fault by a sympathetic jury.

Louisiana has some of the highest limits in the country and it isn't a coincidence we have trial lawyers in elected positions.

This might have something to do with it:

2014 542 New Lawyers
2015 722 New Lawyers
2016 570 New Lawyers
2017 509 New Lawyers

Lawyers have lightyears more integrity than a lot of professions I've dealt with over the past 30 years.

Their "reputation" is by and large, undeserved.

Alan Seabaugh is a dweeb. Waited at the bus stop with him in junior high. He was a dweeb then. Still a dweeb.

As a lawyer who regularly crawls around in the mud with the PI attorneys, I can tell you that the profession's reputation (on all sides) is 100% deserved.

99% of trial lawyers give the other 1% a bad name....

I guess I don't have really any experience with "trial lawyers".

Is that really just PI lawyers?

The people routinely donating to political campaigns for judges on the civil bench are insurance companies and plaintiffs attorneys. Thus, some judges are predisposed to favor plaintiffs and others are predisposed to favor defendants.
What judges received insurance money? Which are predisposed to favor defendants?

Haha, like they are set up for all those $5,000 jury trials.
