Their demands include:

- No human shall be sentenced to Death by Incarceration or serve any sentence without the possibility of parole.

- An immediate end to racist gang enhancement laws targeting Black and brown humans.

- The voting rights of all confined citizens serving prison sentences, pretrial detainees, and so-called “ex-felons” must be counted. Representation is demanded. All voices count.

You got 4 downvotes for making one of the most common sense statements...

Sounds like a good opportunity to test out some of the military’s less than lethal weaponry.

I don't see how anything they are doing is going to effect anyone... but sure stop ordering honey buns for awhile if it makes you feel better

The counter point to prisoners being on strike from their point of view: What're ya gonna do, lock me/us up?

The counter point from taxpayers: Oh you're on a hunger strike? (cause lets face it, that's the only card they have) Good I hope you die and I don't have to keep footing the bill for your law breaking criminal arse.

Anyone advocating the ending of mass incarceration should either be willing to turn their home into a halfway house- and be held totally responsible for the "poor disenfranchised" vermin they house- or shut up.

I don't think anyone can argue that conditions in prison are not deplorable. Currently prisons are not doing what they were designed to do. All you hard asses can say prisoners deserve whatever they get, but the truth of the matter is that most prisoners will eventually be paroled. If, as a society, we forget that the purpose of prisons is to rehabilitate, then how can we ever hope former prisoners will ever be productive members of society?

Such is the case in California, where prisoners are assisting in efforts to fight wildfires and being paid as little as $2 per day.

Fun fact: Once they get out they're not allowed to be firefighters due to the felony conviction.

Prisoners need to be paid a living wage just like the rest of us.
I say set that at $50/day and then charge them $60/day for room and board.

I don’t care about downvotes. There’s probably 4 inmates on their prison computers reading TD and down voting me. Good thing they only get an hour a week, and no pron

Then 1 guy probably fat fingered the upvote

And 2 people are just haters

Prisons are built to create a cycle. Before inmates are released from prison their bedtimes are slowly adjusted to 230am... know why?
Because nothing good happens between 10pm and 3am in the types of places these people are going back to. This is one of several systematic tactics used to keep prisons full...
The more you know...
