US oil production rose to record highs in September, data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA) showed on Friday, shrugging off concerns that the market is heading towards a surplus.
US crude oil output rose 44,000 barrels per day in September to a record 13.84 million bpd, according to EIA data.
Oil output from New Mexico, the second-largest oil producing state, hit a record 2.351 million bpd, while output from the federal offshore gulf region rose to 1.983 million bpd in September, the highest since February 2020.
Future US oil production growth is expected to be concentrated in the offshore gulf region as the country's top onshore fields move towards peak output.
US gross natural gas production from the Lower 48 states in September fell to 122.17 billion cubic feet per day, down slightly from August's all-time high of 122.8 bcfd, according to the agency's 914 production report.
Among top gas-producing states, monthly output in September fell by 0.63% to 37.69 bcfd in Texas.

When the first data center power plants come online, consumption will jump. Elsewhere in the world they might have to use oil for power plants.

Are they using oil based generation plants for some of the data centers?

I doubt that in the US but then again we aren't Thailand or India. Reportedly, Saudis have switched from oil to solar in an area away from the oilfields, thus tankerfuls are being put into storage in Egypt.

I think finally in the past couple months we're starting to see a real slow-down, or at least a step back, in the industry, both O&G up and midstream and petrochem/refinery sides.
Hopefully we get out of the rut soon.

Probably not specifically, but energy is partially fungible. There are overlaps in which natural gas competes with oil, so as natural gas gets consumed, and increases in price, it will increase demand for oil.

In 2011, when European friends saw how much wet natural gas was in the US they told me that Europe's petrochemical sector was 100% doomed. It was about that time when most of BASF's capital investments were in the US with the rest in China since then. It didn't have anything to do with Russian supply since 2022.
BTW, a friend who retired from Baker Hughes told me about the lack of productivity in their Chinese shops rebuilding downhole tools.

Power turbines via natgas and solar

He thinks so. Also, exposes Chinese fake EV data as well as IEA agenda driven fake data. EV's are not the future.
There are in fact oil burning power plants in Europe still, used when needed.
