Real Genius is a top 3 performance for him along with Tombstone & the Doors. It is such an underrated movie & so different than most of the 80’s comedies.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang with him and Robert Downey Jr was his last great staring role I can remember. It doesnt get mentioned much buts its a really fun movie. One of writer/director Shane Black's best.

Besides his iconic roles in Top Gun, Tombstone and The Doors, I really enjoyed his acting in Wonderland and Stateside. Both early 2000's films.

I was 9 or 10 when Willow came out so I've always loved that movie and his performance and character in particular.

this is a rough one...i really enjoy so many of his movies...

a few things that i haven't seen mentioned in the thread...

he was a christian scientist...this is one of the reasons that his throat cancer took such a toll on him...he waited far too long to seek traditional treatments...

he said that he met a number of people after "the doors" who actually had gotten tattoos of him playing jim morrison, instead of tattoos of the real jim...
