There was a time when we "almost" switched to Verizon home internet service. Since that time there have been at least 2 of these outages. Glad we didn't do that.

The guys you talk to on the phone are not the ones working this outage, I assure you.

We switched to Verizon internet about a month ago because Spectrum was becoming less reliable. Verizon WiFi is working fine. Our phone service is SOS

Whatever it is, it "deregistered" the phones from Verizon's network.
When I try to make a wifi call, I get "phone not registered" even though I can surf the web and send text over wifi.
Verizon's network is up because Spectrum rides Verizon hardware and their phones are working.

Not a cellular engineer but this kinda sounds like some sort of issue with particular sim cards which are used to tie a phone to the carrier. Has nothing to do with wifi or text (depending on text method) but will disable cellular service.

I've been thinking of jumping to Spectrum. This might be the trigger.

How someone hasn't started a budget cell company named Real Talk yet is beyond me

Lot of the newer phones just have "esims" so theres not even a physical Sim card in them
