Would not recommend. Knew someone that bought in despite my advising against. Once in, the equipment was constantly broken and their customer service was awful. To top things off, after the flood, they continued to bill and harass her for payments on the flooded home with no operating equipment.
It was a nightmare. Worst customer service you will ever deal with. Especially when trying to cancel. You will never get anyone on the phone. When you do, they will lie. Don't do it duece.

How does any company hire salesmen like this? And moreover how does a sales guy think this is a good strategy??
Turns me off to the company completely.

I've had them for two years. No problems so far.
Same here. I was initially surprised by the amount of hate I see on here whenever these threads pop up. My setup runs 85/month but i also didn't pay anything up front and came with cameras/ DVR/locks for every door. The big issue I've heard on here is that everything is fine unless you need help getting something fixed, which I haven't really had to experience yet.

Super pushy salesman came to my house a few times. The first time he came he tried to guilt me into a system by telling me he'd hate for something to happen to my wife and kids if I wasn't home. I gave him a pretty stern "no" and let him know he wasn't allowed back on my property.
A few weeks later he came back, I answered the door with my Sig and told him I took his advice on protection.
About 2 months later I was cutting the grass and he was doing his walk around the neighborhood. He didn't stop by to chat that time.

have then for a few years, no real complaints.. have to have someone come out to the house , took about a week to get service tech out ...
downside, they are the only ones that can monitor their equip.. just like adt. any other company you can shop monitoring. big into home automation, can add any zwave enabled device like light switches and stuff to your panel , and they walk you through it over the phone. i too dislike their door to door sales model though.

My only experience with them was when one of their people came by my house and was super pushy about getting me signed up right now. Dude wouldn't take no for an answer. It turned me off of the company big time.
I had the exact same experience with them

Had them for several years. No joke, best system I’ve had.
Yes, the salesman was a very high pressure type but he caught me when I was really unhappy with my local company. When I signed up, they installed /retrofitted my equipment that very day. If my alarm is triggered they respond almost instantly every time. When I’ve had problems like a zone losing communication, I called on the phone and they talk me through a troubleshoot. Usually I can fix it myself. On the occasions when I could not, they had someone come out and fix it. It was relatively quick and very painless on those couple of occasions.
I actually went and read up on all of the complaints. Yes, it is true, there are many - but most of them are related to the contract. Most of them are related to people signing up for two years and after a couple of months deciding they want out. Quite obviously, the company is very ironclad with their contracts. I knew that going in and decided it was worth it to me even if I had to eat a bunch of the contract. I have no regrets at all.

He came by at 7pm, was like dude leave. I see they've hooked up several people in the neighborhood recently as they have those orange signs up
They asked me to put a sign in my yard so that the neighbors would think I signed up. I was like no, I don't want my neighbors to think I'm a dumbass.

Our neighborhood seems to have an uptick in vehicle burglaries a few days after these guys make the rounds

In Louisiana you must be licensed by the State Fire Marshal to sell security. Ask him for his license which he won’t have then ask him to leave
This. I forget the details but they're using some loophole to sell their products in LA.

I got swindled into getting them do to the lady wanted security system after 5 visits to my house i caved and got it. during installation they drilled a hole in my door and refused to fix it because they claim they are not liable for the damage done during installation. I argued with the claims adjuster for weeks and actually got about 1/3 the money back to fix the door. Then the code dead bolts they offer say the battery lasts 5 years hahah it lasted 6 months and stopped working. Also the control panel they put in the house works through wifi so you can use the app on your phone well if it ever gets disconnected its a pain in the butt to get it to reconnect. all in all i give it a 2/10 im pretty close to just calling them an telling them there crab equipment is on the front lawn.

It’s not a scam. They’re about as reputable as all the other alarm providers.
The problem is their sales force. Vivint gives their sales guys freedom to do whatever they want and will have their sales guys back 150%, even over their customers. Once you get installed, that contract is binding and they don’t really GAF.
They’re about on par with all the other providers out there.
ETA: I’m a former Vivint Solar employee. The solar side tries to keep their image as separate from the alarm side as possible.

Why is their BBB rating so horrible? And why have they lost so many class action lawsuits?

Why do they all have Utah license plates?
And why do they all operate out of their apartments at the Cypress Lakes complex?
I lived under one of their units for a while. Every saturday morning you could see em carry merchandise down the stairs and load up their vehicles. About seven or eight families. A very weird and sketchy bunch.

A perky little cute blonde tried to sell me Vivant. I wish she’d come back.
