We haven't even seen the real ramifications yet. There will come a point where the incompetency and lack of consequences for it start costing lives at a rate that we aren't ready to handle. The solution will probably be AI and integrating it into things we trust our lives to as a society.

Cars are cheap now? When did that happen?

Cheaply/unreliably made, not inexpensive I guess is what he’s meaning.

We have a much better standard of living than we had when I was a kid and a lot of the reasons for this are things that you mention,

He mentioned:
Education declining,
Grifting off of government being celebrated,
Cheap appliances, cars and whatnot
And
Mediocre service

Which of these 4 made your standard of living better?

Don't get in an accident. It's a nightmare with these insurance companies.....................but be sure your payment is on time or they will drop your arse.

Lets go back to 95 or something. In the late 90s thats when companies started cutting back big time in what they offered their employees. It was just after 2000 when policies started changing. Companies started being less and less loyal to employees.

The middle class my parents were in, is different than the middle class today. It was possible for people to save more after paying their monthly bills than it is today and where we are today started in the 2000s.

Or course people have more monthly bills. There used to be no cell phone bills, no internet to pay for. You could watch everything there was to watch on one cable subscription.. There was the home phone bill, but it wasn't that expensive. A family could buy a house and vehicle and raise a family more comfortable than they can today.

Also, poor was poor.. And I know it still is, but from I am told even the poor kids today have phones or ipads. Its just a different time and it seems like todays poor is different from being poor in the past and its tougher for the middle class than it use to be.
