Hard for me to understand how br is declining. The city has so many advantages LSU, Exxon, piles of state gov jobs that are basically recession proof.
How is that translating to population and economic growth which have both been declining in the city? Even Mall of Louisiana is on it's last leg. And you can say malls are dying everywhere but the truth is not like Mall of Louisiana. Many people avoid it b/c of the low quality options and suspect crowd there. Thriving cities have at least 1 thriving mall. Yeah they may not be thriving like in the 90s and 00s but they are still thriving. Perkins Rowe is the best BR has to offer and that's not even all that exciting anymore. The momentum and interest there has been mediocre at best.

This is the problem and it’s only going to get worse in the next few decades.
I have been a cop in this city for over two decades. It’s the only thing I have ever done.
The common demonstrators I have found among those responsible for the vast majority of violent crimes are very simple.
1. Didn’t graduate from high school.
2. Have children out of wedlock.
3. Don’t have a job.
4. Never had a meaningful relationship with their father.
What this tells me is that if you make poor life choices, your life will almost inevitably lead to crime.
Gangster culture is glamorized here. For every one rapper that has made it, they have set back 100k kids that look just like them.
The biggest disparity in Baton Rouge is the racial make up of both the offender and victims of violent crime. If you removed one group from the data, the total armed robbery and murders would be in the single digits.
Let that sink in for a minute.
And it’s not racist, it’s pattern recognition. I wish I could do more to help change this fact, but I am competing against a culture that can’t be stopped.
At this point, I have come to terms with what my life’s work will be reduced to. I have got a front row seat to watch it all crumble. The challenge is to not get caught in it and to make it out alive while trying to help some.
Wish me luck.
Thank you for all your hard work but like you said the problem is bigger than you. It starts with the parents. I wish people had to pass a test in order to get pregnant ... these problematic kids are being groomed to be garbage like their parents. All you can do is work hard to protect yourself and your family and for many that means getting tf out of BR if you're not in one of the few insulated well-off parts of the city.

More than half those jobs are filled by employees who don't stay in EBR... have you seen I-12 & I-10 at knock off time??

This is happening in cities all over the country for the past 40 years. You can thank a Democrat.

It’s never gonna get better until we can have an honest conversation about the demographic that is the problem. If you speak the truth, then you are labeled a racist and your opinion becomes irrelevant. Everyone knows the truth but also know they can’t say a damn thing

Also Exxon is headquartered in Houston and most of the state jobs pay suck and are not a big enough magnet for the best degreed professionals to stay in the city! They are not contributing to the advancement of BR. Great to have but as far as pushing BR to be a desirable place to live for people outside South Louisiana ... nope

I know exactly where you are coming from in what you are saying. It is tha absolute truth and one that you cannot change on your own. The best thing you can do is go to work, and do your best to make it home to your family every night. I pray that you make it to retirement and beyond and are able to relocate to a safer place to enjoy your retirement. Stay safe and God Bless

I only could make it through about half of the video.

I never even go to BR unless to doctor or hospital. I live out in Walker and can get anything I need here. There is a huge reason why people are leaving BR in droves.

This also explains why you guys are so anti Biden taking away your guns. You’d be royally fricked.

All of the people in that video vote Democrat if they vote, or even legally can.

I don’t live in Baton Rouge. I’m in St. George.

Baton Rouge is not dangerous... nowhere I go do I feel my life is in danger... yeah it's some places you think you car will get broken into... but that's anywhere... the majority of the murders around here are people killing people they have prior issues with mo matter how insignificant those issues are... both college campuses are located by what some may term as bad neighborhoods... but it's rare a SU or LSU student are involved in a violent encounter and when it does occur it's a big deal..
Tell that to Devin Page’s family with a straight face, go have that same conversation with Allie Rice’s family. You’re just spouting shite that makes you feel good and that makes you part of the problem.
I doubt you even live in BR, and I can 100% guarantee that you or a close family member have been a victim of a violent crime in Baton Rouge.
My son and two of his friends were victims of a violent crime in 2019, basically ambushed, jerked out of the car they were in with guns to their heads, thrown to the ground, and robbed.
The BRPD could not have cared less, and the piece of shite BRPD robbery/homicide detective “working” the case straight up lied to my face by telling me there were no surveillance cameras at the business where it happened. I had already been by the business and saw the cameras for myself, and spoke to the business owner who told me his cameras were always in working condition and recording. He also told me BRPD had not been by there to investigate and they weren’t going to. He apologized and said that’s just what we’re dealing with.
So you don’t know what the frick you’re talking about, I don’t live in that shithole anymore, but this is caused by black culture leadership and the tribalism that often comes with it.
Baton Rouge is an extremely dangerous city no matter what time of day or what area. Young black males run around like wild fricking animals with guns doing anything they want and no one in city/parish leadership is doing anything about it, they’re not even talking about it because they’re cowards.

If you're not close to retirement, move to outlying sheriff's department. Seriously.
