The Dallas North Tollway is in planning stages to extend past Prosper TX, which is about ~30mi away from Uptown Dallas

City proper populations don’t tell the whole story, but Nashville’s explosion is a little overstated. It’s growing to be sure, but lacks a leading industry like Austin (tech) and Charlotte (banking) have.

Yeah healthcare and Christian and country music industry are definitely on the decline

I wouldnt argue with those lists.

Hot and Rising:
Boise
Vancouver, WA

Sister lives in Vancouver, WA. It is hot because of Portland housing prices and it serves as a bedroom communuty, but there is "no there there." I live outside of Seattle. The crazy increases in housing prices are slowing down, but I would take this area over Portland/Vancouver any day. I moved here from BR a little over 3 years ago...ranks as one of the best decisions I ever made.

frick living in a city with 10-20 million people. I'll be on the side of a mountain by then if I'm still alive

Most of those numbers are for the entire metro areas. So that leaves lots of room for sprawl (ex: PHX metro). Can easily live in the suburbs of those areas.

I'll take a nice cabin in the middle of 300 acres please.

I would go crazy in the middle of nowhere. I enjoy being in a city where I can walk or bike to most anything I need and a long drive for me is anything over 15 minutes.

The only city in Louisiana gaining people is Lake Charles/Sulphur. Most is only temporary too. Any “growth” in cities in LA is mostly residents moving within the state from place to place such as moving from Lafayette to Youngsville or from Baton Rouge to Prairieville.

Someone who tells the truth. Louisiana lost 55,000 people last year but when you factor in births and a few people moving into the state LA lost 10K. Only 7 states lost people last year and Louisiana was #4 highest loss for 2 years in a row.

Once the plants in LC are built, will be interesting.

Baton Rouge (metropolitan area....
not city) will cross over 850,000 people this year.

It’s not doing too bad.

Lake Chuck is definitely growing. I’m hoping that the growth is at least semi-permenant.

That won’t overcome the overall loss the state has seen in the past 10 years though. Hopefully Louisiana doesn’t lose another House seat in 2020.

Are you including places like Zachary in that number? EBR parish has lost residents and the past 2 years

Zachary is in EBRP. Basically the suburbs are growing but the city is fairly stagnant. Similar to a city like Birmingham.

I would own vacation homes in all of them if I could.

Will Be interested in seeing the population change by parish. Overall net 10K loss. LC growing because plant construction. Mandeville is growing as well.

I mean I think the problem with louisiana is that most people that don’t want to be in the major cities in Louisiana just leave the state completely. If you’re not going to live in a major city there’s honestly not much insentive to staying in the state outside of family/friend ties. And there’s not major incentive in living in a bigger city in Louisiana either.

A lot of those people have moved to LP and AP. Both are growing 10-15%

Same. There is a reason population is rapidly shifting into cities. Convenience is one of them.
