If your family is Louisiana Colonial French or French Acadian, they would have been here long before the French acquired that reputation.
In other words, hold your surname with pride.

5%French.My maternal grandfather was a Fontenot.My uncle,went to France,spent a few months tracing their genealogy,,found ancestors back to about 1700.
