I have. Uncle used to live in Metairie so I've been to NOLA a lot, wandered around to different places, eaten at a lot of places, gone to stuff like the WWII museum (very cool), been to games at the Superdome, Mardi Gras, etc.
It's just these days and for the past several years, when I go to NOLA I stay in the FQ and tend to be hammered a good portion of each stay.

Because you can get shot in Baltimore. St Louis, Detroit. But getting shot with good food nice weather and mass European influence still till this day is special.
