The B58 is a damn strong engine. In the spirit of the IV they are modding the shite out of them and getting good power.
It's a re-badgef BMW Z4, which is the quintessential sorority girl car.

My wife has a cooper convertible she paid about $3500 for. 5 speed manual. It drives like a suped up go cart....seems like it is quick as lightning and handles like a race car. Top speed is only about 100 mph but it'll go from 0-80 in about 5 seconds, or it seems like it is that quick. Fun little fricker to drive, especially with the top down and in the mountains. It also gets 37 mpg. Not meant for daily driver, its a maintenance junkie, but for $3500 its fun as hell to spool about with the top down.

Another fun and affordable toy. I know several people who have one and they love them. You can buy one around here in good shape for around $5K and have a blast in it.

One of the only good products that Nissan makes is the new Z car. It's $50,000, and it's pretty damn cool.
I wouldn't spend any more than $50K for it.....if you had a slightly bigger budget, you should go with the Supra which is closer to $60,000.
If your budget was closer to $75,000....you may want to look at a C8 Vette instead of the Supra. You might be able to swing a Porsche 718 in there but the Vette will curb stomp it.

This car was selling for about 23k fully loaded as recently as 2018
The Type R since they brought it back in ‘16 or ‘17 has been near the $40k mark. There no such thing as fully loaded with that either, since there are no options available other than summer vs. all season tires.
Maybe you’re thinking of the Si? That car has always been around the mid 20’s and still is.

I keep going back and forth with these.....
I like them both, but I'd look like a total douchebag in the 718 Cayman. Only a partial douchebag in the Corvette C8.

Life’s too short to care what people think.
I would like to get the Corvette, and vast majority of the friends who have made comments about it being douchey when it comes up are not exactly whipping around in nice cars of any caliber themselves.
It’s like someone randomly decided certain sports cars were douchey and everyone took the bait.
I don’t care. That car looks damn fine these days. Call me a douche all you want.

MINI Cooper JCW. Good luck finding one with a manual transmission, though.

I’d say it’s the exact opposite. I think you can make the 718 look quite nice, nothing can be done for that C8.
Nothing wrong with this:

I don't know why that is so hard for some people to grasp. Drive what makes you happy and not for what other people think, whether it is a Porsche, Vette, BMW, Nissan or whatever.

Mustang - If you can land one these days under $50k, it’ll be a miracle, big power, big fun.
I bought a GT premium new from the factory in '22 for under $49k. At the time, the non-premium options were in the low 40's. A 460hp car for 42k is a damn good deal. Recently I've seen similar '24 GT premium models for under $50k so the prices are still comparable to when I purchased 2 years ago. As far as I could tell at the time, the mustang was the best bang for your buck. The supra was a close second as far as value and it definitely handled better and had slightly less road noise but the mustang won me over with that classic American muscle car sound and the raw power from the V8. It's very fun to drive and I highly recommend it if you have the means. You can probably find a slightly used GT premium for under $40k or non-premium for under $30k

There is something to be said about expressing your style.
If a woman wears workout clothes exclusively I’d say she has poor style.
I drive a 15 yr old stock German sedan…because, well I wear dark socks with shorts.

My dad has one and it's tough to drive it without a smile on your face, especially if you wind it out. Really starts to pull and it redlines at something ridiculous like 9,000 RPMs.

Corvettes are pushing 100k, is the mustang the only obtainable sports car for the everyday joe? Porsches are all 100k or close to it, what’s the 50k car that drives fast and looks cool?
Are you not pretending to be rich anymore?

I still have a silver '87 turbo 5-speed and 38k miles. Turbo lag is fun.
Had a '79 MK I as well, with built-in 8-track, power windows and cruise control. Basically a gussied-up Celica, but the look was cool.

Nothing wrong with the Cayman, great car and platform. My problem is Porsche intentionally handcuffs the car to not bout perform the 911.
The C8 has more first time Corvette buyers than any generation. Buyers are current /Ex Porsche 911, M3, and Ferrari owners, average owner age is around Ave 911 owner age. That's tells you a lot about the car IMO.
