Hitting when the dealer has a bust card is stupid, poor strategy. However someone else's stupid strategy does not effect you in any material way.
Tell that to the guy who has a pair of Aces, dealer has a 5, and the player ahead of you just hit a 13 and busted with a 10.

I've played more hands than I can possibly count. Rarely does a bad player ever help the the other players with his horrible play. Almost always, the opposite. The math isn't hard.

What’s the opinion on Single Deck? Went to Harrahs a couple of weeks ago. Empty single deck tables. $25 minimum bet. They all payed 6:5 Blackjack. I heard the odds are a little more favorable to the player in single deck, but is it worth it for 6:5 payouts?

You shouldn't play blackjack.

I don’t understand why 90% of blackjack players don’t understand basic statistics. I’m actually referring to this poster and others who insist that everyone at the table “play by the book”. It’s irrelevant to the guy playing g with me if I play by the book. I stay away from the tables because of this. The hardcore blackjack people are odd.

If you don't understand, you shouldn't play blackjack... unless you're playing with a bunch of other dumbasses who don't know how to play and know when they should hit or stay.

I agree. Posters like that is why I rarely play blackjack (I will play if I’m solo or with a group of friends and we can fill the table)

It’s gambling and it’s supposed to be fun, and assholes who think it’s some weird team sport ruin it completely

It is fun when people are playing buy the book and the table is winning. If you don't know odds and when you should hit or stay, you should stick to the kiddie tables. I don't care that much. If idiots are at the table, I'll just quit playing and move to another table. Or take a long bathroom break and come back after they've busted out.

Gambling seems more fun when you're winning... but that's just me.

You don't always hit on 16. If you have a 16 and the dealer is showing 15 or 16, you don't hit. If you have 16 and stay when the dealer is showing 17 or higher, you shouldn't do that.

My blackjack strategy is to play with a table full of friends, with drinks, for low stakes-$5 minimum. The dealer needs to deal slowly and be friendly. The drink servers need to be attractive and attentive.

Needless to say, I don't play blackjack anymore. My standards aren't attainable at any Louisiana casino.

They don’t, anyone that believes this has little understanding of them basic probability and statistics involved in table games

LINK

“There is no question that each player following the rules of basic strategy, is playing his hand in the optimal fashion and as a result, cutting the dealer’s advantage to the absolute minimum. However, the incremental advantage gained against the dealer’s edge, by playing basic strategy, does not translate to the other players at the table. A player that varies from the rules of basic strategy and takes a hit when they should not, ONLY AFFECTS THEIR OWN chance of winning the hand. Their decision can just as much help the dealer as hurt the dealer. Conversely, a player that stands when basic strategy says to hit or double, is just as likely to make a card available to hurt the dealer as help him.”

People like goose get pissed when someone does something stupid and it costs them, but they forget every time it helps them. They also forget every time someone next to them is playing basic strategy and they still lose. You have to be an addicted gambler to honestly think what someone else does changes your own odds.

I refuse to acknowledge that. "A lot" is a parcel of property, etc. Alot is many of a particular thing.

I will never understand how someone that can be so serious about their ability to play
BJ, but never put a minutes effort into understanding the reality of the mathematics involved, and continue to criticize other players based on nothing but common myths.

If you played at a table full of robots, each armed with the optimal blackjack strategy, you'd still lose in the long run. The math is always on the casino's side. All you can do is to hope to win in the short term.

The Vegas strip wasn't paved by winners.
