Bought company stock when it dipped low. We went bankrupt 3 years later with a 98% equity loss. Lost $12k on that investment.

In the year I had it, tranny, timing chain, power steering pump, two new tires, exhaust manifold, muffler, and a camshaft sensor, off top of head.

Now, I can do all of that. But at the time, my lack of confidence and knowledge left me SOL, and broke.

Nothing stands out that I proactively did and shouldn't have done.

I certainly should have bought Apple stock early, etc.

I've been pretty fiscally conservative.

Kids cost alot.

Staying married to the same woman since Reagan was in his first term has helped my situation.
