The mix of diesel, 90 weight gear oil and drilling mud along with the smell of a fresh painted drilling rig.
Zippo lighter, cigarette smoke followed by that first sip of black coffee.
Fresh worked farm ground especially on a cool fall day.

Back in the 1980s when you'd but an album on cassette, the ones that were clear had a sweet cherry like smell.

I've never smoked cigarettes but sometimes I like the smell of a single burning cigarette.

I wouldn't want to smell it every day, but there is a certain perverse thrill one gets from stumbling upon a paper mill in the middle of a long drive. You really get to experience modern industry at its most disgusting. And there are probably hot young chicks there that would do anything to get out.

I do miss that first smell of paper mill in Baton Rouge when the winds would change and the first cold front of the season was coming through.
