What’s a easy maintenance “exotic” pet? Hedgehog? Lizard? Guinea p

Bearded dragons are pretty cool. Guinea pigs dont live long and they friggin stink.

If you truly want something thats beyond easy to take care of, Id get him a corn snake or even a ball python. They are super easy to take care of, very docile, and you only have to feed them every week to two weeks. We had our boa for three years now since it was tiny and he is super tame. Also feed him every other week.

Since he would be new to snakes, both a corn or nall python would be perfect for him. Hell my 5 and 7 year old daughters hold ball puthons all the time at the reptile shows. Unfortunately they are kinda boring since they get scared and ball up alot. But if he likes a beta, I guess you anything would be more fun.

Do not get a guinea pig! Those guys crap twice their weight an hour and go through groceries as bad as a lab. I was shocked how high maintenance those things are.

Rat, then when your son is tired of taking care of a pet you won’t feel bad getting rid of it because it’s a rat.

So get him a dog or a cat. These animals are the most common domesticated pets for a reason. Also, you should take care of the pets and slowly introduce him into the responsibility of owning a pet. The kid is fricking seven, he shouldn't be responsible for the life of another mammal.

7 years old is a perfect age to start growing up with a dog.

Get your damn kid a dog.

The best pet at that age is a fancy rat. My kids had one of everything at one time or another. The rat is cute and plays. It does not bite, which is important. Hamsters bit the crap out of them. It doesn't stink like a guinea pig.

Lady I work with got a pet tortoise. Thing is pretty damn cool actually and not much maintenance. They live forever so your kid can hand it down to his kid. Hell, it might even make it down to your son’s grandson.

My niece had one. It ran away. I shite you not. A fricking tortoise. They lost a tortoise
