Fun fair park, Cortana, Bennigans, Chi Chis, putt putt. That area was awesome in its heyday.

Weird, I went to return some shite around 1:30 today and the one on Siegen was slammed. Like 10 people deep waiting to check out. I turned around and walked out wondering why so many people were at academy on a Monday. This still doesn’t explain it though

What was the mall that is now the area/hood referred to in rap songs as "Mall City?" I remember my dad talking about that being a hopping place back in the day. It was a French name, the building could be there still just under another name.

Heard the manager at the Siegen location say Airline flooded while shopping Saturday morning. Probably a roof leak.

I remember when Cortana was a field, only used for the State Fair once a year. There were no buildings.

Rax was across the street from Bon Marche
Mama Brava at Cortana
In the late '80s there a place in Cortana that sold fresh bread. 50c a slice but so friggin' delicious...

As said it was Bon Marche and it was open air with an enclosed mini mall at the rear. Then when Cortana was built it converted to enclosed mall.

It’s supposed to be closed for a week. Covid issues. Not closed permanently.
Yea I can't imagine that store closing. It sounds crazy but Plenty of Sportsmen and Sports Parents come from far north as Natchez(the Alec location is just as far). So you figure Zachary, St Fran, New Roads, etc use it too.
Maybe they'll open one in Zachary one day and then it would close I bet.

What was the name of that cave entrance bar next to DH Holmes?

I was there Friday morning just after 9am. They told me store was closed due to a water leak. There was one of those restoration companies with pumps pumping water out of the store into the parking lot.

An Academy employee at Seigan lane store told me that the sprinkler system discharged and wet everything inside.
Great sales on moist close inbound. ??

Like others have said, Bon Marche. It was a cool arse mall. The movie theater lasted until the late 90s. It got turned into a business park with mixed results
