We bought our house in Prairieville 9 years ago at $120/ft. New neighborhood next to us is SELLING for $190-$200/ft with zero lot lines and smaller houses. Good for us, until we decide to move and have to buy an overpriced house.

Carmel, CA ~ 3,400 sq ft home (Realtor.com Listing) for $3,526 per sq. ft.

That's best average dollar per sqft here so far...

That area of California is fricking awesome.

As others have said, the main determining factor is location. I spent $140/sq ft in Lafayette, but the homes I looked at in New Orleans before moving here were all $260+/sq ft and many were $325+.

Uptown New Orleans is holding around $325-350/sq ft, with some going over $400 depending on house and location.

Housing sale prices in Houston are significantly lower than anything in BR, but check your property taxes before you buy that 400K McMansion. You'll probably be paying ~9-12K per year in property taxes.

No idea

I guess it's perspective too. How big are the houses in BR that are fetching over $200 per sqft?

As many have said, it’s an impossible question to answer without details.

There’s a wide variety even in the same neighborhoods often. Much less nation wide.

Because their trailers don’t sniff $350psf so they have no frame of reference.

If you have have time be your own general contractor.

Saves money.
I enjoyed it.

Basically you do all the sub hiring, material and finishing bids.

Depends on the location. 3,500 sqft in Old Goodwood that’s either a new build or completely updated will get $215/ft depending on lot size. And 1600 sqft in Garden District or Capital Heights can get $215/ft as well.
