Please go to CAAC out by LSU. They are always full, and have pure and mixed breeds.

Yes. And they will die. Please go pick one. The adoption fee may cover all vetting.

Dixie, I have a dog. This would be for my elderly father who just lost his much beloved dog. So he’s grief stricken and will resist the idea of getting a dog right now as it’s so fresh. But we discussed this in theory months ago and I’ll wear him down. I’ve already assured him I would take the dog in the event of his death. For me, life without a dog buddy is incomprehensible.

I think CAA is doing reduced adoption fees for seniors who adopt senior dogs.

Long-term deal, animal shelter, usually $100, but they are typically spayed/neutered.

Short-term deal, Cadillac Cafe, usually 2 glasses of Chardonnay and a Cosmo, but I think it's closed.

Awww, I’m sorry to hear your dad lost his beloved dog. When he’s ready, he can go pick his new friend. They will “rescue each other” as we in rescue say. I have multiple dogs and it’s heartbreaking to lose one. My others keep me going during that time bc they need me. Blessings to both you and your dad.

The parish's animal shelter /pound. After a set period of time.....days....the animals are put down. Came within a few hours of losing mine, as he had wandered off & the chip showed us where he was...finally.

Companion Animal Alliance. There place is by Alex Box, fees are usually around $150.

CAA does very cheap fees regularly, like $5 tuesdays or something

You can see the dogs online as well here

You taking of the one by Plank Road? I’ve adopted from there long ago. They both kill, the pound might be best place to start since worse conditions. Thanks for reminder of that one.

Looking at the Companion Animal Alliance webpage made me sad. All those dogs that are waiting for an adoption. There were also a lot of pit mixes.

We got our Golden Retriever from CAA. He was rescued from a guy in the Istrouma area at around 5-6 months old. When he was a pup the guy put him outside with a chain around his neck and as he got older the chain got tighter and tighter and was starting to get embedded. Luckily we were able to get him and he's a happy, amazing dog now.

This is when we first went to get him; he was very skittish. You can see the chain marks on his neck.

You can have my wife's dog. Just have to get here to get him before she gets home from work. He just tore the fender off of my fourwheeler because it backfired

i would suggest looking at rescue groups in the local area or region as an option especially if you have a particular breed you like.

for example these guys got me my current dog and best buddy.

If you're tired of life and want to give up, get you a pit bull and let nature take it's course
