When my brother was in the hospital before he passed away, I probably didnt sleep more than 8 hours in 8 days.
The only chair they made available to me was a metal folding chair, so I sat in his room, basically 24 hours a day other than bathroom and cafeteria breaks.
I also had to drive across Florida at night when I came home to catch my flight. I fell asleep standing in line to board the plane.

I’ve done 36 a few times. Back a few years ago I was working nights in an outage and my grandma passed away. I got up at noon, went into work, got home at 8 the next morning, stayed up til about 9 pm. Slept til 1am and got up to drive across state. Had the funeral, family gathering, then left to make the 4 hr drive home. Wife drove so I slept 2 hrs. Stayed up all night, went to sleep around 8, woke up at noon and went back to work til 730 the next morning.

My early years of trucking were some sleepless nights. Remember leaving Toledo Ohio and driving with no sleep to San Antonio Texas. Not ever doing that again.

Prob 48 hours straight or 6-8 hours of sleep over a 4-5 day period.
Our twins went into the PICU staggered by like 2 days (ended up staying for about 15), so about the time one got situated and i probably would have figured out a sleeping schedule the other went in and it started all over.
This was a few weeks after they got out of a 20 day NICU stay, which also sucked, but at least then you pretty much have to go home each night unless you want to camp in a hall.

I'll go close to 40 hrs between today and tomorrow. Worked today, going back at 11 to work a 16hr shift until 3pm tomorrow and probably won't get in bed until 930 or 10 tomorrow night

33 hours, at the age of 49. I was with my mom, who had vascular dementia, in the ER waiting room of Our Lady of the Lake. We arrived at 9 p.m., and didn't get taken back until nearly 4 a.m. She has since passed.
The last few hours were and are a complete blur. I honestly don't remember how I drove home.

Ambien saved me. I only took it for a week to get my sleep cycle right. It will knock you out.

I went through a period where I couldn't fall asleep until I was exhausted. I would go two nights without sleeping then crash the third night. I went 4 days, on the 3rd day I fell asleep for 2 hrs, but that actually made me feel worse. Thats when I finally made a doctors appointment. So for me, 4 days, with a 2 hr nap on the 3rd day. Its miserable when you get to the point where your body just wants to crash.

Deep in the Vietnamese bush on long range ops we’d go weeks with less than 4 hours of solid sleep per night while standing watches. We grunts were walking zombies. After returning to our forward operating base from one 40-day operation, the brass just told us all sleep an entire day. Still, most of us awoke after — you guessed it, 4 hours.
Semper Fi my sleepless brothers.

Did that impact your sleeping pattern when you returned home?

Idk but one time I had sex for 1 hr and 30 seconds. Daylight savings time had nothing to do with it.

Don’t stress about it. Easier said than done. I live in your world.

About 36 hrs straight, summer of 1987. I was 22. I was working a graveyard shift job that summer, 8 PM to 6 AM. Used to go to bed at 7 AM and wake up about 3 PM. Had weekends off, and one weekend went up to Atlanta with a friend. We left for Atlanta early, right after I got off work.
Got to Atlanta, went to the house where some other friends were living (they were all in a band together), and right when I was going to crash asleep they started to practice. So much for sleep.
Caught my 2nd wind, we all went out and got dinner, then went out bar-hopping and partying ' till about 3 AM.

Almost 60 hours. No drugs.
I was really out of it towards the end of that stretch.

Las Vegas
Saw little green people at craps table with me during the last hour.
Decided then it was time for sleep.
Was winning, too.
