F-18 Super Hornets are underrated in this thread. Basically the perfect fighter design/redesign. Beautiful aircraft. Can do it all.
It just doesn't have the presence of the tomcat, which will always be the quintessential naval fighter IMO, heavily aided by top gun.
I like the tomcat more. It's bigger, it's faster, it has more range
I REALLY wish I had money and time for a DCS virtual reality setup so I could play around with these great planes.

I've always liked the B-2

There was such a beautiful simplicity to the British Spitfire.

AC-130 Spectre. What’s not to like about the most bad arse close support aircraft in the world?

I'd like an explanation of why the F-22 doesn't get more mentions other than me - I'm not complaining

I worked on F-14 Tomcats for years.

Will never forget that day in Gulf Shores playing on the beach when the Blue Angels were flying down the coast with a F-14 in tow, it was amazing.

The Blackjack was pretty bad arse. Yet, nearly the entire bomber fleet was still Badgers and Bears. (Says the dude that brought up the B-52 an hour ago.)

There are many, but I will always have a soft spot for the A-4 Skyhawk. Very nimble aircraft with a roll rate of 720° per sec was pretty impressive back then and even for an aircraft today.

Partially because since its inception it hasn't had a role on the modern battlefield. Also, until China resorted to modern WW2 spy techniques, it hasn't had an air-to-air kill.
It is by far the most badass air platform we've had. And there is a reason we aren't selling it to any other country. Unfortunately, it has lost its intended role without ever truly being used.
