working at a radio station. All we'd heard before that was that the police were seeking OJ for questioning, and then the AP wire spit out "police are in pursuit of a white Bronco Owned by OJ Simpson." It was the first media orgasm of its kind and many others followed. The fact that it and several others rival the moon landing in popularity is a sickening flaw of humanity.

Three events are “challenger worthy”

‘94 watching the nba finals and chase cuts in—Hackberry LA.

9/11–Dallas, TX

Katrina—NYC—national media had no clue about the severity of the levees breaching, but being from the area, I knew a shitstorm was coming. Probably 2am local time.

Eating dinner. My grandma was over at our house that night.

Standing outside my 2nd hour class, a girl walked up to us and said that something crashed into the tower....2nd hour teacher (football coach) arrived and we went to the field house to watch TV. 5 min into watching TV, we all saw the 2nd plane hit the tower.

I hate to quibble with this, but where did you live? The moonwalk started about 10 PM Central on a Sunday night, and lasted about 2.5 hours.

President Clinton addressing the nation for the first (honest) time on Lewinsky: too young to care

9/11: In PE when the announcements came. Watched on TV in every class afterwards. Shocking and I remember it perfectly.

TV shows bombs being dropped on Afghanistan: watching in class again

Hussein's statue is toppled: watched on TV in French class in high school

1st images of Katrina (some of you will have seen it much more personally than via TV): working in a shelter at the time helping displaced victims.

For Bin Laden -- that was the first of the instances when I had a smart phone. I was sitting on my apartment balcony with my fiancee' at the time and I just said "prove it."

Back to 1994 OJ...the Ryan's Steakhouse I was at had a TV and the restaurant was eerily empty. My family and I then drove home and we watched KSLA on our "old school" satellite and that just might have been the beginning of cable competition news.

95 McVeigh...I was boarding a plane from Houston to Baton Rouge.

2001 bombs over Afghanistan...buying a dome foam with friends for Saints/Vikings game and giving a salute.

We are interrupting this thread to tell you that Buckwheat has died.

Buckwheat was killed by a lone gunman, John David Stutz.

Buckwheat is dead.

Perhaps you are thinking of when the capsule first landed ("The Eagle has landed"). The moonwalk was several hours later.

Edit: Nope, it landed mid-afternoon.
