But he stopped and brought the dog to your house. Drunk or not the dog got out from an open gate, same as mine and I didn't blame the driver.
And don't blame the kid either. It's an accident. A tragic one but an accident still.
Exactly. It is just a reality of owning a dog near a busy road. No one's fault.

I'll loan you Pin Ball. She needs new furniture to bounce off of.

I feel for you. We put our 17 year old cat to sleep two years ago and I'm still not over it. I guess you never do.
All the new animals will never fill the hole. But you'll always have those memories.

I feel you. I lost my 12 year old lab on Dec 30th. He swallowed a baby toy and had surgery to get it out. Unfortunately, at his age he had a tough time recovering. He was struggling and I was planning to put him down New Year's Eve, but he decided he was done the night before. He passed away in my arms while I was petting his belly. He was content and just let go.
He was always attached to my hip, so it still hits me from time to time when I do something that he would "help" me with. My other dog is really having trouble, though. He doesn't know what to do because he just followed the lab's lead. We'll probably have to get him a buddy pretty soon.

Wait, Maggie is dead?
When did that happen?
You were talking about her in the present tense a day or two ago.
Maggie is a girls name right? Rex used the pronoun he.
But Rex would have a trans dog so I don't know.

Harley was my dog. Any advice?
Buy another one just like him. It's a dog for goodness sake.

Similar story.
We had a pet hampster named jim.
My uncle got drunk one night and sat on Jim.
Sufficated Jim right there in the lazy boy.
POS uncle isn't invited back to our house.
We just chose to flush Jim down the toilet instead of doing a burial.
Figured neighbor's dogs would dig him up and drag his little corpse all around the yard.

Not really. Just never understood people who put pets on the same level as people basically. It's ridiculous. Get over it and grow up.

Burial at sea.
When I was a poor student I had a dog cremated and didn't have the money so my mother loaned it too me. On the memo of the check she wrote "pet burning."

Sorry for your loss. Dogs are special and it is always sad when they are taken like that. It must hurt immensely right now. terribly sorry
Posted on 1/7/16 at 10:16 pm to LewDawg
Really sorry for your loss. They are part of the family except they don't aggravate you during the holidays
