Randazzo's is the best. I prefer the icing king cakes over the sugar king cakes

It's el Gaucho. I wouldn't take it too seriously.

Without reading this thread, I bet the answers are Haydels, Randazzos, that Vietnamese bakery in the East, a smattering of bakeries in Cajun country, some nostalgia about McKenzies, and a joke about grocery store King cakes.
Did I cover it?

You asked the question in the wrong way for a good discussion if you were serious. Otherwise, to troll, you did WELL.

Any other answer besides Randazzoo’s is wrong or trolling

I had a Haydels one time and really liked it. Tasted like an old school King Cake. Now everyone just makes a big donut and puts colorful icing on it.

Marguerites
We got one last week and it was just drenched in almond oil. Love the taste usually but it was so much and rich it wasn’t good.
We still finished it though.

No but tasty for what it is.
And before any Youngsville/Lafayette guys chime in...Keller's is not a king cake either (glorified danish)

Well are you choosing Nonna or Manny?

I hope that is a one off. I’ll go in a couple of weeks. I like to try one new vendor each season, and also buy one regular fav, which is Marguerites. The new was the original French king cake at Maurice’s in Metairie. Would not buy again. Nothing to it but pastry dough and it was so flaky it fell apart when trying to eat.
