Teddy Roosevelt
quote:
In 1904, he was made a military aide to President Roosevelt. While serving in that capacity, he served as a sparring partner for Roosevelt, who was an enthusiastic amateur boxer. While boxing with the President, Moore struck Roosevelt so hard in the eye that the President lost sight in it.

I bet Teddy was a boxer like FDR was a bowler.

Question, if you are on the president's staff, and you get invited to play against him in his morning basketball game workout, do you let him win or lose?

quote:Teddy Roosevelt Avidly Trained Judo & Jiu-Jitsu
I've read several bios and they all agree that he was a sickly asthmatic child. I've always wondered if his tough guy image wasn't just a PR creation planted in a friendly NY media.
quote:
Theodore Roosevelt trained the same type of old style Judo & Jiu-Jitsu that the first Gracies learned in Brazil from Mitsuyo Maeda (who was passing by The USA on his way to Japan) back in the early days. He was taught by Yamashita Yoshiaki, the pioneer of Judo in The US, and a direct student of Jigaro Kano. President Roosevelt trained jiu-jitsu to lose 20 pounds prior to an election.
Below is an extract from “Professor Yamashita Goes to Washington”:
“during March and April 1904, Roosevelt practiced judo three afternoons a week, using a ground floor office in the White House as his workout space. Then, for the rest of the summer, he practiced occasionally. He stopped training during the elections, and there is no record showing that he resumed his studies afterward.
The President’s training partners included his sons, his private secretary, the Japanese naval attache, Secretary of War William Howard Taft, and Secretary of the Interior Gifford Pinchot. When these people were unavailable, then Roosevelt tried his tricks on husky young visitors.”

Bush II was in very good shape before and after entering the White House. He still mountain bikes a fair amount I believe. He just turned out to be a shitty president.

Reagan & Teddy Roosevelt. Both took bullets to the chest and survived--only US Presidents who were shot in office and lived.
An assassination was attempted on Andrew Jackson, he beat the assassin with his cane.

Don't agree with Obama as a president, but anyone who is anyone knows that only the truest of athletes can compete and spark one up afterwards.

Tiebreaker goes to Teddy--gave a 84 minutes speech right after being shot and carried the bullet around in his chest for the rest of his life.
TR wasn’t shot in office. He was campaigning in 1912. Taft was the incumbent.

Donald Trump. Greatest athlete we’ve ever seen in office. He could hold his own at The Masters

I'll never measure up to his impressive stature.

Honest Abe. In his day, he could play the post and PF. Had an awesome pick and roll game and finished with some pretty thunderous dunks. Automatic double double at his height.

If you're going old school, Andrew Jackson. 73 inches tall. 145lbs. Did not frick around.
Some dude tried to assassinate Jackson, who was 67 at the time. He walked up to him, pulled out a pistol, and pulled the trigger. The gun misfired. He pulled out another pistol and pulled the trigger. That one misfired too. Jackson beat the shite out of the guy with his hickory walking stick. Would not tolerate rude behavior in a man, just wouldn't. When people, including Davy Crocket, tried to pull him off the guy, Jackson told them to leave him alone.
Tall and very slender and still carrying a bullet from a duel years earlier, Jackson was not to be trifled with.
