Oklahoma City is seriously underrated. I'd move there for the right money

Considering I already hate tornadoes here in DFW, I dont want to move closer to the bulls eye.

Because Texas is a big state. Lots of people there.

And I don't mind and long as the Texas athletes decide to get their education in Louisiana before going on to the NFL

Because the same companies that exist in both states have all of their jobs for recent grads in Texas. Those compsnies often then require one to move to Texas if they want to make it past middle management in their company. Texas is just a much larger job market and it's right next door.

If anyone living in AR/LA/OK/NM today played the same game, most would answer "I'm going to Texas".

People in New Mexico and Oklahoma would likely choose Colorado over Texas, people in Arkansas could possibly choose Tennessee,

Yea, if you're in Louisiana and you have to move to an adjoining state, chances are you'd choose Texas over Arkansas or Mississippi but that isn't the toughest competition

My company asked me to work in Houston for eight weeks...I lived in NO at the time...it only took about 2 weeks for me to realize it was just a much better place to live in most ways that matter...
Less corrupt, better infrastructure, better more stable economy, more police, less crime, no income tax, cleaner, zoning, schools are better, roads are better...I can go on.

I miss the way people view life in Louisiana, my family and the swamp sometimes...otherwise nothing else.

TX doesnt have the culture and neighborhood feel that NOLA does

depends on where you are living. You cannot tell me the Heights, rice/west u, Montrose, ect. are bland cultureless neighborhoods.

don't toss COL at me because if you want a decent property in New Orleans in "culture-filled" neighborhood you are going to be paying out the arse and still living near the hood.

My father made me always promise him I'd never go work in the plants. All my family on both sides worked in the plants. Most have had cancer and died of it.

When I graduated the job market in LA for recent grads was this: engineers, oil field safety techs or whatever, enterprise rental car associates, Northwestern mutual rep, life insurance rep and state government work.

I had done finance for most of my time at LSU and it was a hard lesson to learn after interning that the only thing to do locally was financial planning. That line of work is horrible for somebody young.

I never felt more hopeless coming out a recent grad. It took plenty of lucky breaks for me to get where I am now.

Apparently you feel that these things only exist in NOLA.

If you like old things, culture, close-knit neighborhoods, locally-owned business, history, laid-back lifestyle, music, drinking, uniqueness and dont mind shitty infrastructure and dont care for intelligent conversation then NOLA is for you.

Locally owned businesses? Plenty of those all over the US, especially in TX.

You want to live in a shitty place because it is historical? Laid-back? I mean, are you planning on raising kids in that shithole too?

i had a handful of classmates who got jobs at iberia or something, but you're right. everyone else (who didn't go into planning) went OOS.
