Most girls like to date the bad boy aholes that make them feel like crap. It happens to men too. My ex made me feel like a pos. I still deal with it, no matter how many women ask me out.

I think it just tends to be more "out there" with women because of the focus in feminine culture on clothes, makeup, etc. A guy is usually pretty good at hiding his insecurities because he'll usually be emasculated if he admits to them publicly.

Online dating can be brutal. More than a few women will either have their lowest height requirement at 6'0'' or outright say they won't date a guy below a certain height.

It's fishing for compliments most of the time. Try this test - when a female puts herself down, respond with something that confirms what she said but also include a compliment. Her reaction will confirm that she doesn't really believe what she's saying.
Example:
She: I'm so short!
You: Don't let it get you down. Eva Longoria was the shortest Desperate Housewife but most people said she was the hottest one.
