I merely wanted to know how you decided, chose, made a conscious choice to have that child. Were you scared? Was it a mistake that turned in to a blessing? That was my question.

I have two kids, and it's tough sometimes, but it's the only way to live forever. Kids really are a piece of you running around outside your body.

Basic human instinct doesn't make it correct nor logical. It does sound like as good of a justification as any I suppose though.

My wife and I are trying to get pregnant right now. I want kids as much as she does. Can't explain why, but it is frustrating seeing people who don't want kids get pregnant while we have been trying for a few months now.

Do you want kid for you, or do you want kids to make your wife happy?
Or do you want kids because "that's the way it's done?"

Why do you find it so odd that men could want to be parents just as much as women?

Maybe your genes aren't superior enough to reproduce. Sometimes it's hard to accept your lot in life, but it's for the greater good of society as a whole.
Get a dog, they're fun and not as expensive anyway

My friend and his wife were in thier 30s. They decided to get two lab puppies to prepare for kids.
Three months later he brought the dogs to a friend who wanted them, and got a vasectomy.

False, have you seen the people that are reproducing at the higest rates? They are usually the least educated and poorest group out there.

I completely understand this(we are trying as well). I feel this as well. It's made me much more jaded as a nurse recently because of this reason.
Good luck to you and your wife. I hope a healthy pregnancy is in yall's near future

My wife told me she wanted kids when we were dating. My parents were divorced, I essentially raised myself, so I approached it like a man would. With a sense of purpose, and determined to do it unselfishly and get it right, without regrets. There are enough boys. A whole world of boys. Thirty-five year old Islands of ego that never did an unselfish thing in their life.
I read comments about "meltdowns and whining". Seventeen years and three kids in, and that never happened. I had some comedic teen girl angst and may get some more, but what I got was the best relationships of my life. And my brother and I were total shits, so somehow I escaped my karmic destiny.
