Because other parents will report them, they'll get arrested, and their children will be taken away from them. Obviously, this mostly only applies to middle class and upper middle class white parents.

Well seeing as how my kids behave pretty good, I don’t need to hit my kids as means of discipline. Taking away privileges is the worse thing you could do to my kids and it works as the ultimate deterrent

Hitting kids doesn’t do anything positive, I truly believe that. If you need to hit a kid, they’ve already won. A kid can be easily controlled with other means. Those parents on your flight just have no control over their kid and the kid doesn’t respect them.
Exactly this. I raised four children that I did not hit and I promise you this kind of behavior would not have happened nor would the punishment have only been a timeout.

It's the lack of real discipline, not the lack of physical discipline. Pretty sure spanked kids are more likely to become bullies.

What is this thread? Man, I got spanked in school by the school in Louisiana. Haha.

I’m better for it because I was a little shite.

My elementary principal kept his paddle mounted on the wall. It had holes cross drilled into it, for aerodynamics and balance I guess.

I don't know about this. When I got hit, as a child, it was a major "oh shite, I REALLY F&^KED UP!!!" moment for me. Granted, I wasn't hit for trivial shite, and I really only did something bad enough to warrant it twice. After the first time, just the threat alone was enough to largely keep me in line.

Yea. I think there are degrees. Yes. You don’t hit your kid for spilling milk. But if, they did something that would other wise be breaking the law or cause physical harm to someone else, I believe they deserve to be spanked.

My dad probably spanked me 4-5 times in my childhood.

After that the action of removing the belt was enough to stop my antics

I think there's a difference between it happening a time or two, and it being the go-to MO.

Hitting is for pussies

Real parents challenge their kids to a gunfight next to the chicken statue at a widow’s house on Highland Rd.

Some lady at Walmart called the cops on my sister in law for smacking her son in the face. He was throwing around those bouncy balls and knocking over stuff and repeated pleads and threatens for him to stop went on deaf ears. She even passed him a slap on his behind. Didn't work. She had enough and slapped him right across the face and he finally stopped.

A woman saw it and confronted my sister in law and got management involved and they refused to let her leave until the police showed up. Once the officer arrived, he got a few statements and told the woman who initially complained to stop wasting their time.

Right, but the problem with woke individuals and cancel culture is that there's zero room for nuance. Either you're 100% against the bad thing or you're the worst human ever.

In my opinion, paddling never should have been removed completely from schools. It should have been reserved for the most heinous of offenses, but the threat of it still being available was a MASSIVE deterrent. Considering the fact that I was literally in school when they announced that the paddle would no longer be used, its absence was noticed and EXPLOITED (by me, personally, I might add).

I thank the lord for the few good cops who exist in this world and pray that I run into them when I need one instead of the a-hole cops I usually encounter.

I miss the good ol' days when every other interstate exit had a parent wearing his or her kid's arse out on the side of the road.

I remember only one or two kids got paddled per year at my school. Usually the same trouble makers. It sure deterred the rest of us from acting up.
