This is the most concise and accurate response I’ve read so far.

it isn't a waste of time.

I never said it was. Sounds like this is a really fun profession even though it's branded as a lot of work, especially if you go into the right field.

You're a physician? Did you go into pro aviation because you just love it?

I’ve been doing it for about 4-5 years. I would never ever consider going back to regular days again. The work weeks are long, but they really fly by.

And best part of all, you’re never more than a week away from your next vacation. Day 7 is a glorious feeling that never gets old

Only thing better than being a 20-year-old single man making good money working offshore is being a 45-year-old single man employed as a doctor. That’s a fact.

My wife is a doctor and she had a damn good time in medical school, residency, and research years. Especially the research years.

Yeah, ortho is the prime specialty in dentistry. Great money and more brain work than hands work, unlike every other specialty.

And is the "over a million dollars in debt" an accurate statement?

Not even close. My wife is getting ready to graduate medical school from Tulane and the debt will be about $350k.

She is also part of the Army Reserve AMEDD program and they will be paying back $250k of that for us, as well as giving us a $2k stipend each month throughout residency. She will likely be close to debt free by the time she graduates residency and begins making her full salary.

On the flip side, she will owe the Army about 10 years of service. But as an Army Veteran, I know the service is very different for physicians and she will likely have a pretty chill Reserve job and will boost her marketability for future career goals.

I chose to go into oral surgery after dental school. My wife went to Ortho. I would blow my brains out if I had to do Ortho, its mind numbingly boring.

Plumbers and trades make a lot (not as much as this board likes to pretend) because the work sucks and you have zero upward mobility outside of owning your own business. It’s not a mystery.

saw some sign in a medical facility not long ago, something along these lines: "please do not confuse your Google search with my medical degree"
