***UPDATE***from Beauregard Sheriff’s office
Fire fighting efforts continue in the area east of Highway 27 where the mandatory evacuation took place. Spot fires continue to pop up in the area. State Forestry services have units in the air and ground that are closely monitoring fire activity that has picked up closer to the Neale Oilfield/Merryville side of the area and the fire has jumped Highway 110 but not in an area where an structure would be threatened.
Highways 27 and 110 have been closed again do to fire and issues with traffic negotiating personnel and equipment. There has been a slight decrease in the 85% containment from this morning due to winds and rekindling. We ask you to please continue observing the burn ban and being diligent with conserving water in the area. We will update should it become necessary for Merryville and surrounding communities to be aware of increasing danger from fire.

The sheriff is also on Twitter for those folks who don't have Facebook. They post the updates there, too.

Only lasted a minute and drops dried as soon as they hit the ground, maybe before.

Super Scooper Planes are tagged

SCPR283
SCPR286

For those that like to track flights. They are filling up in Toledo Bend and flying over an area near LA27 & LA110

There is also what appears to be a spotter plane tagged N751BR.

Final note, LA dept of Ag has a plane in the air as well AIR21

Currently there are several fires going on at one time. We CANNOT answer everyone’s questions, we can’t keep up, there’s a lot going on.
Confirmed fire in JD Mitcham/Miller Road area in Evans. Emergency crews are on scene, mandatory evacuation ?for JD Mitcham and south of JD Mitcham.
GET OUT OF THE AREA. If you’re even close, LEAVE!
Confirmed, fire, B Johnson Road in pitkin. If you are in the area get out now.?
Confirmed fire on Planer Mill Road in DeRidder, no threat at this time. forestry is on scene.

Looks like the interaction with the fire may have triggered a few more showers:

A little outflow boundary could be the trigger there. It could also wind up being a net negative if the wind kicked up with it.
