The storm that just passed popped lightning all over leading to more fires apparently. 3 were reported in Ragley and there was even a tornado according to some. Now there are trees on power lines. Crazy shite.

Are there any aircraft fighting these fires like they do out west?

50+ mph gusts are not what we needed today

Yes there are 4 I know of. A few big tankers and some smaller planes. I have seen videos of them filling up at Toldeo Bend. There are also Apache helicopters dumping buckets of water they are scooping out of ponds. Videos all over this page of it all

There have been. Some were pulled earlier today for another fire in TX and others may be grounded due to weather.

I know some guardsmen outside of the aviation units have been activated to help with the fires.

This is all so crazy. Everything is kindling. One of the fires in Ragley I saw was started by someone who tossed out a cigarette. The head of the Fire district there posted a video telling people to stop.

After the showers cleared, I don't think it pushed as far north as I first thought. It is burning new ground, and Neale may have fire now.
That's at least a little good news if the wind shifts back out of the general north it won't be pushing the fire directly into town.

It's right by the school now. When my sister left town she said there were a hundred emergency vehicles rushing to the school and some 18-wheelers with huge dozers going to to try to push some fire lanes around the town and school.
If you go look at the school on google it is surrounded by timberland...and a cemetary which is weird.

If I was a betting man I figured with the low winds we had today and the rain in the area things would of gotten under control but it seems like the wind picked up when the rain came and there’s wasn’t enough rain to combat the wind just sickening thinking about it

Leaving work and looking north at the lightning was 1)incredible 2)heartbreaking.

Just got emergency alert that the fire jumped Neale Oilfield Rd and is headed north towards 190W

Some reports say the fire has reached the edge of the Merryville police station which is right in the middle of town.

I saw that, too. The wind wins this one.
Hard to relocate assets when before the showers/storms the prevailing wind was in the opposite direction. They're playing catch up now.
