They will probably develop an outdoor market like Grand Boulevard within the next four years.

I highly doubt this. There isn't demand in Kenner for this. This especially would hold true if Clearview Mall pulls off a redevelopment.

Does Dillard's own the store they occupy? If they don't, I think they'd be better off finding another location in the area. There are plenty of shopping centers in better parts of town that have huge spaces available.

Dillard's typically owns their land.

I worked there in college. Didn’t like it then... don’t care now. Good riddance.

Esplanade can at least point to Katrina for a lot of its issues with tenants.

Cortana can only blame culcha.

At least your local mall didnt go from nice to trashy to abandoned to maximum trashiness (torn down and replaced by Walmart). Belle Promenade

Cortana Mall is in a great location for development. Easy to get to from I12, and 190. Close enough to NBR to satisfy the current administration, and conveniently located to Old Goodwood money. Tara is on the upswing and Broadmore is a solid middle class neighborhood.

Another option would be a larger implementation of the Amazon distribution center that is currently a tent next to Costco.

There’s still a Bath and Body Works and a Victoria’s Secret.. which blows my mind.

B&BW did their annual candle sale last week where people stand in line to get into their stores. I immediately wondered if anyone went to Cortana for it.

Serious question, can you still get pics with Santa there?

Yeah, I have childhood nostalgia for malls but look how many people shop locally now. Growing up, I had never really been into boutiques because those were $100+ items of clothing for well off people. Now, pretty much every female my age buys their clothes at Blink, Bella Bella, Posh, etc. where their non-sale prices rarely exceed $60 and their sales are as cheap as low end mall stores.

I stopped in a local gift shop yesterday to grab a hostess gift on my way to a party and the parking lot was entirely full. The place was lively and the lady who owns it was walking around helping shoppers. That’s awesome to see at local businesses.

They had the area where Santa sits decorated so maybe so. I saw a sign advertising a Christmas concert too.

I made the mistake of going to The Mall of Louisiana this weekend. I thought I was in a third world country.
Trash level is a now a 10. Damn sad

I was amazed at how many shoe and athletic wear stores there are now. IT must be 25-35% of the entire mall

If you want to keep something a secret, stashing it at Cortana is a smart idea.

It's amazing to me that place is still hanging on by a thread. It was awesome in the 80s and early 90s.

Sad to see malls disappear imo Pretty iconic aspect of Americana

Free Market correction of a market inefficiency is much more American ideal than a mall.

I agree. That area isn’t as bad as people think. Even Villa Del Ray is solid Black/Asian middle class. At least 50-60% resembles Tara, with nice cars, boats, RV’s in driveways...The closer you get to Sherwood Forest Blvd. and further east, the worse it gets due to the preponderance of low income duplexes and apartments.

The MOVEBR tax plan includes additional lanes and other major improvements/enhancements to Airline Hwy. Florida from downtown to Airline will be greatly improved as well.

Some demand is already there for the Cortana property and I could see it being re-developed in a myriad of ways over time. Politicians and other city leaders need to somehow light a fire under the owners.

Tesla should build there, such a high demand and all...
